    Hello Richard,

Can you provide us a link to your website with such a problematic video? Also, on which browsers does this happen? Any additional info could be really beneficial for us.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hello Richard,

I’ve tested your video with various browsers(including edge and chrome) on both Mac and Windows and I can’t see mute button on neither of those. Can you please send us a screenshot of that mute button?

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hi

Sorry its the iphone 11 ios 13 that continually shows the speaker icon
This is what is required on other Browser/OS as to be able to mute and unmute the video from the player control bar, its much better for the customer

    Hello Richard,

The reason why we use the mute icon on iOS devices is because of it’s core device restrictions. You can’t have volume bar on iOS devices because the volume level is fixed to the general volume of the device. Mute icons shows on Android as well, bu only when the screen is too small for a bar to fit in.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

Understood, is adding the mute Audio icon to the player for everything something you might consider on a future release, as it seems to be becoming a standard feature on other players

    Hello Richard,

we do show that speaker icon if the video is muted.

So for example if you come to a video which is set to autoplay it’s likely that it will start muted, as modern browsers don’t permit audible autoplay – it’s been like that on mobile for a long time and then in Chrome and Safari on desktop computers as well.

So thanks to that well recognized icon it’s clear that the video is muted and user knows where to click to listen to it.

In you are using Chrome, you can click the head icon in the browser toolbar and pick Other People -> Guest and open https://foliovision.com/player/demos/autoplay in that new window. It’s a special browsing mode without any kind of history. It’s important to test in this mode as otherwise Chrome remembers where you played videos before and will allow audible autoplay on such websites.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

yes we know that if you have it set to start muted it shows trhe icon, but if you click on the icon to unmute the icon dissappears and you cannot re mute the video fine for short 1 min videos but on longer ones people want to be able to mute the video easily. also if the video is not set to start muted no icon is available for people to mute the video if they wish, We beleive it would be best to have the speaker icon always visable so users can mute and unmute as they see fit, especially on longer videos.
