Hi I recently had a customer email me that Airplay doesn’t work on his Macbook to Apple TV. I tried and I couldn’t get it to work either on my site or on your demos with Vimeo integration. It did work with YouTube on your demo I believe.
Is there a limitation on Airplay and the Vimeo Integration?

it works on iPhone, but when using an Apple computer with Safari we let it play the MPEG-DASH stream from Vimeo. And that is not compatible with Airplay.
The Vimeo player also plays MPEG-DASH on Safari, but when you enable Airplay it loads the HLS stream on background and uses that just for the Airplay.
We will try to incorporate a similar procedure.

Hello John,
the issue is that Airplay only works with a bare HTML5 video tag. So for these Vimeo videos we can only reload the video in a basic streaming mode (HLS or MP4) and then call Airplay again.
That would work unless FV Player Vimeo Security is installed.
For now I at least put in a fix to remove the Airplay button if it’s not going to work.
To get it right now you can reinstall FV Player from this link: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/master.zip To do that you will have to first deactivate and delete the current FV Player plugin you are using. WordPress will warn you that you might loose settings and data, but it’s not the case with our plugin, no settings now videos will be lost. Or you can just replace the plugin files via FTP.

Would you be willing to give up some security for AirPlay playback? We’re an Apple enabled household these days and like when our content providers allow us to AirPlay.

I think that would be fine. The Airplay from a Mac would be a great feature to have work with all of the new Macs that are coming out. I think more and more people are going to use this feature and there may be more Mac users in the future. I’ve started using them as well and they’re great.

I agree. We’ll work on a configuration which is marginally less secure but on which AirPlay works reliably. Of course if it’s possible to maintain full security and have AirPlay work properly we’ll do that too. We have an Apple TV HD in the office for testing so there’s no reason we can’t have AirPlay working properly.
