Setting mailchimp API crashed FV Player plugin

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Bug Reports › Setting mailchimp API crashed FV Player plugin

  • Calvin 5 years, 2 months ago

Just created a new mailchimp API key and tried to plug it in to the settings page on Mailchimp.

Now the email settings box on the action tab says
“There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

I received an email to my admin email account with the following error message:

    WordPress version 5.3.2
Current theme: Revolution Pro (version 1.3.0)
Current plugin: FV Player (version 7.4.14.727)
    PHP version 7.3.15

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 13 of the file /home1/taprootm/public_html/oneminuteof/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer-master/includes/mailchimp-api/src/MailChimp.php. Error message: Cannot declare class DrewM\MailChimp\MailChimp, because the name is already in use

    Please advise.

    Hello Calvin,

are you using any other plugin which might be using Mailchimp API?

    Thanks,
    Martin

I do have Mailchimp for WooCommerce installed, but I do not have it set up and I have not entered a mailchimp API. I deleted the pulugin but that did not help

The Jetpack plugin provides a gutenberg widget called mailchimp and I am using that widget on a page as an email subscription form. It seems to be working ok. I had to enter my mailchimp credentials to set it up, but I don’t recall having to generate an API key.

At this point I am happy to not use the FV mailchimp integration. But I can’t undo the FV problem and get the UI back to the way it was.

Should I try to uninstall and reinstall FV? It would not be a pain to have to recreate all my layers. But there are not too many of them. So if I need to erase everything and start all over, I can do that too.

But I will wait to hear your guidance before doing that.

    Hello Calvin,

please try to reinstall FV Player from this ZIP file: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/256-mailchimp-issue.zip To do that you will have to first deactivate and delete the FV Player plugin you are currently using. No data nor settings will be lost. You can replace it with FTP too.

    Thanks,
    Martin
