PPV Email purchase link

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player Pay Per View › Troubleshooting › PPV Email purchase link

I am having problem with the links that are generated after PPV purchase. The videos that will be available for PPV on my site are all posted on member pages that require users to create acct. and login to view available videos. After login they can view and rent/ppv certain videos. Everything functions properly except when I view the purchase confirmation email and click on the link to watch it does not recognize that I have already made the purchase so the video preview shows and then the purchase request – but the video has already been purchased? I am not sure if this is because I am using FV PPV player with Easy Digital Downloads currently in test mode or if there is another issue? I don’t remember this happening when I initially tested the process. I have tested several times and continue to have the same problem?
Also, can the text above and below the video player be removed? I would prefer to just have a purchase link appear in the middle of the screen after video preview but my main concern is the email purchase link.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hello Jp,

you said that the videos are posted on a member pages that require an user account.

However the FV Player Pay Per View video link which is part of the confirmation email doesn’t log user it – it only sets the session to let the user view the Pay Per View video and nothing else. It doesn’t actually log the user in – for security reasons and simplicity.

So if your website is setup with these membership pages you can adjust the email content in Settings -> FV Player PPV -> “Confirmation Email” to mention that the user has to log in to be able to watch the video.

Please let us know if what I posted makes some sense in your situation.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

Thanks for your response. Yes I understand the process you outlined and I think I have developed a work around to that issue. If I post a video to a unrestricted page the player configures the correct link (unlike posting video to restricted page and nonworking link generated).

What I can’t understand is why after a person completes the purchase process and reveries the confirming email it does not recognize that they have already purchased the video as the user is clicking on the link in the confirmation email? Not sure if this is a “test” mode issue or not but seems like it should work?

Also, can the text above and below the video player be removed? I would prefer to just have a purchase link appear in the middle of the screen after video preview? I want the player page to look flush and the space and wording at the top & bottom take away from the look of the page.

    Thanks again for your assistance.

    Hello Martin,

Just a quick update. Not quite sure how (or why) but if I post -NEW- PPV videos using a certain process it seems to generate the correct “watch” link even if it the video is posted to a restricted page. So I think all is well at this point. I will continue to monitor and test.’

    Thanks,
    Again for your assistance

    Hello Jp,

please let us know what is that certain process. Perhaps when I read your description it will help me find the bug.

    Thanks,

    Hello Martin,

I am not sure if it would be considered a bug or plugin compatibility issue. Currently I am using Ultimate Member Pro plugin for membership and to restrict some content pages. That being said if I complete a new post w/a PPV Video and publish it as a public page without UMP restrictions first and then go back and restrict the page after it has been posted all seems to work well. However if I add UMP restrictions to the post prior to publishing the page it generates a nonworking watch link when the PPV video is purchased and purchase email is sent out.

So not sure if it is a bug or just compatibility issue. I will continue to test and monitor.

    Again thanks for responding.

    Hello Jp,

what happens if you start a new page, put the UMP restrictions to it, then add some FV Player and publish it? Will it show the page on wp-admin -> FV Player in the “Embedded on” column?

Please let us know when you have a moment.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

I published a new page per your requested process. YES the FV PPV player did post and the email confirmation contained a usable link that worked and recognized the video had been rented. However the page that the FV PPV player was published on did NOT appear in the “Embedded on” column yet it still seems to function?

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Jp,

sorry about the delay here – you said the “Embedded on” column doesn’t contain the information about the page where the FV Player is inserted. How it’s inserted in that page?

Could you please send an WordPress XML export of that page? You can get that in wp-admin -> Tools -> Export by selecting the right post type and the author or date.

    Thanks,
    Martin
