W3 Total Cache

    Hi,

I’m using WPLMS, W3 Total Cache and FV Flow Player and I’m receiving an error on the template check. See below for the error received:

You are using W3 Total Cache with JS Minify enabled. The template check might not be accurate. Please check your videos manually. html5.js not found in your template! Videos might not play in old browsers, like Internet Explorer 6-8. Read our instrutions here.

It appears there are no Flowplayer scripts on your site, your videos might not be playing, please check. Check your template’s header.php file if it contains wp_head() function call and footer.php should contain wp_footer()!
It appears there are no jQuery library on your site, your videos might not be playing, please check.

After doing some additional digging and making sure everything was upgraded. We tested to see if it was the minify settings. Sure enough, it was. However, we would like the videos to play with Minify turned on seeing as how it affects our page speed tests greatly.

As a side note, we really only care to use the minify setting on the front facing pages and the flowplayer is used only once logged in and behind the paywall to view the product. So for us, it is fine if the minify settings aren’t used on the video pages. I’m not sure if that helps or not.

    Hello Daniel,

please let us know if the videos play for you or not when using W3 Total Cache minify. Or are you concerned by the warning only?

We have good exprience with Autoptimize for JS and CSS minify: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/installation#minify

    Thanks,
    Martin

The videos stop working all together when Minify is turned on by W3 Cache

This is the specific error on the video block:

I’m sorry, your JavaScript appears to be broken. Please use “Check template” in plugin settings, read our troubleshooting guide, troubleshooting guide for programmers or order our pro support and we will get it fixed for you.

    Hello Daniel,

I gave W3 Total Cache a try and it remembered me why we stopped using it years ago. It was too many options and it’s too complex.

I had to copy all the script URLs one by one and put them all into its Minify settings. I could see that putting wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/fv-flowplayer.min.js there caused issues and the videos wouldn’t play.

The fix was to select Embed Location -> Embed before for that particular script. Then it started to load in footer and videos worked. Same goes for site/wp-content/plugins/fv-player-pro-fv-engines/js/fv_player_pro.min.js.

We are currently using Autoptimize for JS/CSS minify. The required settings are described here: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/installation#minify Advantage is that it figures out the scripts needed for each page automatically.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

I installed autoptimize and activated (also deactivated w3) and i’m still receiving the same error.

I followed every instruction and still am receiving an error.

    Hello Daniel,

here’s a demo of FV Player Pro with the minify by W3 Total Cache: http://lifeinamovie.com/2016/01/25/youtube-playlist-lightbox/ As I said we had to set the two scripts to load in footer.

A demo of FV Player with Autoptimize is actually https://foliovision.com/ as we use it there. We had to exclude the following scripts from minify in order to make it work for our site though:

    jquery.js,s_sid,smowtion_size,sc_project,WAU_,wau_add,comment-form-quicktags,edToolbar,ch_client,seal.js

    Thanks,
    Martin
