Plugin Conflict(?) – turns "Publish" button in to "Submit for Review."

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Plugin Conflict(?) – turns "Publish" button in to "Submit for Review."

  • James M. 8 years, 3 months ago

When the FV Player Pro (not w/the FV Player alone) is activated, I cannot publish any posts, pages, etc. The only option is a “Submit for Review.” When I hit it, it says “Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.”

I looked at your list of plugins that cause conflicts, but didn’t see any. See attached images.
    I’m using WP 4.7.2 w/the Total theme.
    Thanks,
    -J

    Hi James,

Thanks for the bug report. Could you please check for a Javascript error in the post edit screen? (Here’s a guide on how to do that)

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    James M. 8 years ago

    Hi Eduard,
Hopefully I did all the Javascript bug testing correctly.
I will answer the questions as listed in the instructions:

    • the browsers that you are experiencing the problem in
whether SCRIPT_DEBUG fixed the error or not
    —Chrome and Firefox

    • the JavaScript error
    — I am not seeing specific Javascript errors. I’ve attached two images of the errors that I am seeing. Not sure whether either is related. The Page 1 error just flashes for a millisecond before going to the page 2 error.

    • the location of the error – both the file name and the line number
    ––– don’t know.
•the context of the error – including the whole error stack will help developers
    ––– don’t know

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!
    -jim

    Hello Jim,

I’m not sure what is the issue here. First it’s some issue with the Publish button and then you send some screenshots which look as if the saving of the post failed.

Could you please send over the list of plugins which you are using?

Does the issue happen with any new post or only with a post with a Vimeo video? What about a YouTube video?

Can you check the PHP error logs?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    James M. 8 years ago

    Hi Martin,

Yes, as I mentioned in the initial message, it is an issue w/the Publish button (in that it doesn’t appear. Instead I get a “Submit for Review”). And when I hit the “Submit…” button, I get the ““Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post” message.

And this is true for all new posts, pages, etc. – even without videos attached – whenever the FV Player Pro plugin is installed (but not the FV Player alone).

Again attached is the list of plugins I’m using and the php error log.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    -Jim

    Hello Jim,

are you using the Beta release of FV Player Pro? Does it happen even in the Release version? Here’s an article about how you can switch from Release to Beta, so analogically you can go back to Release: https://foliovision.com/2016/06/switching-pro-player-to-beta

However I still don’t see how this could be caused by FV Player Pro – we are not changing the way the posts are getting published. Are you able to disable Templatera and WPBakery Vistual Composer and see if the issue disappears?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for the ideas. I was using the Release version. I tried switching to the Beta version and that didn’t help.

I tried disabling Templatera and WPBakery Visual Composer, but that didn’t change anything.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hello Jim,

please make sure that following is enabled: Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Post Interface Options -> Enable old interface.

Other plugins which look a bit suspicious are: Duplicate Post, Page Restrict.

I tried to install all the plugins I was able to get on WordPress.org but I noticed no issue with the Publish button.

You can also order our pro support and we will fix the issue right on your website: http://foliovision.com/pro-support

    Thanks,

    Hello Jim,

FV Player Pro 0.8.1 might be fixing the issue here. If you used no Vimeo and no YouTube configuration in FV Player Pro, this bug could occur.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll try it.
Regarding your earlier suggestion, I tried turning on (enabling) “Enable old interface” and that seemed to fix the problem. Even more strangely, I turned it off again (to go back to the new interface) and it still worked!

Not sure if that might have reset some settings or database that fixed the problem, but having more success now.

I am still having some problems with the lightbox, but that’s probably user error trying to figure out the Total theme w/in WP.

BTW, I did configure the Vimeo API after the above fixes, so not sure if that would have affected things earlier.

    Thanks!

    Hello James,

the bug was a special one, just saving the FV Player settings would solve it, so that explains why it’s working for you after you enabled the old interface. You can turn that off safely.

Sorry about that, we are working on improving our automated plugin testing, although this one will be a though one to test.

Please let us know in a new thread what lightbox issue you are having.

    Thanks,
    Martin
