javascript errors

[Solved]

I’m a licensed user. Setting up a new site. The player is working fine on individual blog post pages, but not on the homepage. Instead of the videos, it’s showing a javascript error as the text of the post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here’s a link to the test site: http://guitaranimal.com/wp/

    Thanks!

    Hi Deborah,

Looks like you have removed the video from the homepage, because I don’t see it there. I also don’t see any Javascript error related to our video player.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

That’s just the point. The test videos are in the posts and should show up on the homepage as well. Instead of the videos, you see the Javascript error in the text of the posts. The error says: AB Loop-+Admin JavaScript warning:I’m sorry, your JavaScript appears to be broken. Please use “Check template” in plugin settings, read our troubleshooting guide, troubleshooting guide for programmers or order our pro…

    Hi Deborah,

Sounds like there could be a conflict with your template. Did you use the template check button? What did it say?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Deborah 8 years ago

Yes. I did check that. But it only says the following:

Template checker has changed. Just open any of your videos on your site and see if you get a red warning message about JavaScript not working. (I don’t see that, just the textual error message (when logged in to WP) in place of my videos on the home page of the blog. Individual post pages are fine.

    Hi Deborah,

I’m sorry but I still can’t see the Javascript errors. Could you please send a screenshot?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

Sorry – I recently moved the site to wp engine.

I believe the issue is with the theme. These are video posts. Apparently the theme only supports youtube and vimeo videos. But even if I change the post type from video to default. I have the same error.

    More info here: https://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/extra/documentation/post-formats/

Do you think there is any way I can use the player and have the videos appear embedded in the post listings? Or am I limited to the player only working on individual post pages?

    Thank you again.

    Hi Deborah,

We did some testing and it appears that the issue is that your theme (Extra) doesn’t use the classic WordPress excerpt filters. The theme executes the shortcode and then removes HTML from it. It should first remove the shortodes, then strip HTML and show that instead – like normal templates do.

The et_truncate_post() function of the Elegant Themes framework only strips the [caption] shortcode, but nothing else. You should contact the theme support to fix that – there should be a strip_shortcodes() function.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

Thank you! I appreciate the testing and the advice.
