I’m working on setting up a link directory and your re-write sounds like what I need. When will it come out?

I’m wondering if your new version will simply update over the existing ones (without losing my links)

    thanks

    George Lewis

  2. martinv 5 August 2009 at 2:38 am

    Hello George,

new version will work with the db from the old version, but I’m not sure when it will be finished. There’s a small chance that we will do it in a month, but I’m not promissing that, sorry.

    Best regards, M.

  3. John 26 January 2010 at 12:03 pm

I can’t seem to install the above version, any ideas?

  4. Martin 29 January 2010 at 10:25 am

    Hello John,

this plugin has problems with menus in WP above 2.7. We plan to fix it. In the meantime you need to rewrite the address in your location bar to something like this to access different plugin screens:

    yoursite.com/wp-admin/{screen}

    screens: wp-link-robot-browse.php wp-link-robot-categories.php wp-link-robot-clean.php wp-link-robot-search.php wp-link-robot-settings.php

Not very nice, but as a temporary solution it works.

    M.

  5. Emily 16 December 2010 at 2:06 am

    I noticed some issues:

    1. The category does not work for me. When I tried to add a quick link, I can select a category, but after submitting it, the category went back to the default one set.

    2. When I tried to edit a link, it will not save.

    3. The keywords in the category disappeared after saving it.

I really hope I can get this to work properly because I really want to use it. This plugin is just what I’m looking for.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks! :)

  6. zdenka 16 December 2010 at 2:28 am

Hi Emily, thanks for letting us know, we’ll have a look at this and we’ll fix it as soon as possible. We’ll let you know when is the new version available. Thanks for your feedback, Zdenka

  7. zdenka 16 December 2010 at 10:30 am

    Hi Emily,

the 2nd and 3rd question of yours is resolved now, you can download new 0.6.1 version. Regarding your first problem, we are not sure, as we didn’t experienced this problem. Zdenka

  8. Emily 16 December 2010 at 10:57 am

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and fix. I just upgraded to the new version. I’ll try it out and see if there’s anything else. Thanks! :)

  9. Emily 16 December 2010 at 11:17 am

Oh, is there any way to make the “back” link go back to my links page and not my home page?

  10. Emily 16 December 2010 at 2:11 pm

Just wanted to let you know that everything is working for me. :)

  11. Bryan Hollis 16 December 2010 at 7:41 pm

Yes, I installed the WP Link Robot version 0.6.1 and it doesn’t even give me any options to work with. Nothing under settings, nothing in widgets, nadda. How does the plug in function? What am I doing wrong. It says that it’s active, but that’s all! Thanks, Bryan Hollis

  12. zdenka 17 December 2010 at 1:26 am

    Hi Bryan,

FV WP Link Robot is located in Tools Menu, for more information, please check out our User Guide. Thanks, Zdenka

  13. zdenka 17 December 2010 at 2:24 am

    Hi Emily,

I am not exactly sure what do you mean by “to make the ‘back’ link go back to my links page and not my home page”. Which ‘back’ link do you mean?

    Zdenka

  14. Christo 17 January 2011 at 5:32 am

I’ve created a category and added a link within that category. The category shows up on the homepage with a “(1)” next to the category name, but when I click on the category to see its content I get a “404” error. If I change the permalinks back to its default value, I stay on the homepage after clicking on the category.

I have the latest version of the plugin with the latest version of WP as well.

  15. zdenka 17 January 2011 at 6:53 am

    Hi Christo,

thanks for your comment. We just fixed a bug when no permalinks were set, so you can download a new version.

If you’re using permalinks set to default value (in a form ?p=123), then the “Directory slug name” in FV WP Link Robot settings should stay empty. If you’re using other permalinks structure, you should define the “Directory slug name” according to the page slug where the links should be displayed.

Hope this helps to solve your problem, thanks for reporting it. Zdenka

  16. aLEX 18 January 2011 at 9:40 am

    Hello,

    I’ve added the code:

created catagories and added links, but only the add links section is showing. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

  17. Alex 18 January 2011 at 9:58 am

Thanks for getting in touch so quickly.
    The page is http://www.ishevents.org/useful/links
and I have the slug as links.

I’ve tried leaving it blank, having full url and useful/links.

    Thanks, Alex

  18. zdenka 18 January 2011 at 9:55 am

    Hi Alex,

please check if you have correctly set the Directory slug name, see the post above. This might be the reason why the links are not rendering.

    Zdenka

  19. zdenka 18 January 2011 at 10:02 am

    Hi Alex,

I would say that directory slug name should be only ‘links’ in this case.

    Zdenka

  20. Richie 18 January 2011 at 7:34 pm

Hi, I am having the same problem as Alex, the previous comment… I’ve added the code:

I’ve created categories and added links, but only the add links section is showing. My slug name is ‘directory-2’…Hope u can help me… Thanks!

  21. Richie 19 January 2011 at 9:17 am

Thanks for the quick reply! I am now able to see both the links and the link submission box on my page. However, like Emily asked in a previous post:

After viewing the links within a category folder, when pressing the “back” link how can I go back to my links page instead of my home page?

    Thanks again!

  22. zdenka 19 January 2011 at 1:26 am

    Hi Richie,

on your website I can see that you do not have enabled permalinks – you’re using the default option. In your case the directory slug name should be empty.

    Hi Alex,

you can also try to update the permalinks structure, just go to the permalinks page and click Save changes.

    Zdenka

  23. zdenka 19 January 2011 at 1:33 am

    Hi everybody,

also please make sure that the dashes used in the code are ordinary ones and not some fancy, or that there are no additional spaces. Copy and paste it into a simple text editor like notepad to make sure, then copy and paste it back.

    Zdenka

  24. Richie 19 January 2011 at 2:10 pm

Hi, I discovered 3 more bugs: 1-links in sub categories won’t show up unless there is a registered link under the parent category. I had to create a link back to my site on the parent category to get around this. 2-when you add a link within the Link Robot dashboard, it doesn’t save the “category”. I must go back into “edit” and resave it for the category to appear. 3-in quick add, only the sub-categories appear but not the parent categories. Thanks…it’s a great plugin!

  25. zdenka 19 January 2011 at 9:41 am

    Hi Richard,

Yes now I see the problem with ‘back’ link, we’re gonna fix this link soon. Thanks to you and Emily for pointing this out.

    Zdenka

  26. Richie 20 January 2011 at 9:20 am

Hi, I installed the new version but now… 1)the “back” when viewing a link does not work at all . You can view my page at:

    [link was removed]

This is the same page I have set under my “reciprocal links” in settings.

2)Also, only one of my subcategories shows up under Peru. I have 2 with active lists that showed up before I upgraded. Both are still present in the dashboard with the same settings as before???

3)The other 2 bugs I mentioned have not been solved…

Also, is there any way to get the links to appear in alphabetical order, other than having to place a number before them. I ordered their priority status and they appear correctly when pulling up the submit menu on the other page.

    Thanks!!!!

  27. zdenka 20 January 2011 at 2:14 am

    Hi Richie,

thanks for such detailed testing! We’ll fix these bugs right away and you can look forward to a new version coming out today. Hopefully it will eliminate problems with displaying the links as well.

    Zdenka

  28. zdenka 20 January 2011 at 5:37 am

    Hi everybody,

the new version 0.6.4 is now out, the ‘Back’ link is fixed, also the problem 1) reported by Richie is fixed.

Hi Richie, we were testing the plugin for the problems 2 and 3, but we were unable to replicate them. Please try to install the new version and check if those issues still appear.

Thanks to all of you for reporting bugs and helping us to improve FV WP Link Robot!

  33. zdenka 8 March 2011 at 3:00 am

    Hi Opay,

this feature is not supported yet, but thanks for the suggestion!

  34. be-followed 14 March 2011 at 11:11 am

For better compatibility replace in browse-functions.php line 321-324 with this:

    if (!function_exists(‘isValidURL’)) { function isValidURL($url) { return preg_match(‘/^http(s)?:\/\/[a-z0-9-]+(.[a-z0-9-]+)(:[0-9]+)?(\/.)?$/i’, $url); } }

  35. zdenka 22 March 2011 at 12:36 am

    Thanks be-followed!

  36. pietro 28 April 2011 at 1:11 am

i’m trying unsuccessfull to use the plugin on a subdomain

if i use permalink then the directory page and the add site page give a a 500 Internal Server Error even if i rebuild the permalink structure

if i use default wp permalink then problem disappear

another bug (for me) is to use the plugin page (directory or links slug or wathever) as the front page of the blog

in this case the front page show the category correctly but if u click on same category you are redirect to the latest post

  37. Celine 20 May 2011 at 12:09 pm

    Hi,

I have installed wp link robot, and I am having the problem of this coming up everytime I click on something in the wordpress editor.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘&’, expecting T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /homepages/40/d351915313/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-link-robot/source/browse-functions.php on line 448

    Thanks Celine

  38. zdenka 20 May 2011 at 12:11 pm

    Hi Celine,

thanks for letting us know, this problem has been just fixed in v0.6.7.

  39. ScifiSlacker 5 June 2011 at 9:26 am

Trying to use your plugin but cannot get it to work. I have tried your tips shown above but I am getting no where fast.

    scifislacker.com/portal/

    slug is: portal

    I am using permalinks /%category%/%postname%/

When I click on the category within the portal I should be taken here: scifislacker.com/portal/actorsactresses Instead I am taken back to: scifislacker.com/portal

The categories do not appear to function within the plugin at least not when using permalinks and i MUST use permalinks.

  40. zdenka 6 June 2011 at 1:41 am

    Hi ScifiSlacker,

please try to go to the backend, to settings > permalinks and click save changes. If everything else is set up correctly then your link category structure should be regenerated and you will see it on your portal. We have tested the Link robot with permalinks, so it shouldn’t be an issue. Zdenka

  41. Gail 13 June 2011 at 9:11 am

I have link robot installed, and have categories and subcategories set up. However, if I need to edit an entry, most of the subcategories are missing from the category drop down, so I can’t edit an entry without editing it into the wrong category.

  42. zdenka 14 June 2011 at 1:10 am

    Hi Gail,

thanks for reporting this bug! We just fixed it in the latest release 0.6.8, please upgrade your plugin and you should be able to see the subcategories when editing the link.

    Zdenka

  43. Gail 14 June 2011 at 9:06 am

Thanks, that’s working fine now. Unfortuantely I just discovered another problem. I have 31 links in my directory, 20 of which show on the first page, with a link to a second page, but when I follow that link, all I get is the Inbox>help menu. Nothing else except WP dashboard menu down left side of page.

  44. zdenka 15 June 2011 at 8:01 am

    Hi Gail,

you mean second page in the backend? or the pagination in the frontend where the links are listed? Could you please also tell us which version of WordPress you’re using? Thanks! Zdenka

  45. Gail 15 June 2011 at 8:54 am

Hi, I mean in the back end where I’m entering the links. Strangely I have found that after running “check all” yesterday the second page sprang to life, until this morning when I went to access it again, same as yesterday, nothing but the top menu. Again, after running the “check all” facility, the second page of entries is accessible. I’m runing WP 3.1.3 with Link Robot 0.6.8.

  46. RausV 18 June 2011 at 5:59 pm

Hi, nice guide. It’s posible to get a language File for FV WP Link Robot? German de_DE would be usefull, or in english. Thank’s a lot. R.

  47. zdenka 19 June 2011 at 11:42 pm

    Hi RausV,

we’re sorry, but at the moment we do not support other languages.

    Hi Gail,

thanks for reporting this problem, we’re investigating it and we’ll fix this as soon as possible.

    Zdenka

  49. zdenka 20 June 2011 at 5:45 am

    Hi Gail,

you might want to check the new version 0.6.9 which was just released. The problem you were describing should be fixed. Thanks a lot for reporting it!

    zdenka

  50. Gail 21 June 2011 at 8:45 am

Hi Zdenka, Yes it is, thanks. One more question. I have four main categories: Write, Publish, Promote and Life, which I created in that order, and gave zindex priority 1-4 accordingly.

In the drop boxes, these categories appear in reverse order, Life, Promote, Publish, Write, with Root and trash at the bottom, which is a little weird but I’ve got used to it.

On the directory display page, though (‘writepublishpromote.com/resources/‘) they appear Write, Promote, Life, Publish, which appears to make no sense according to zindex, alphabetically, chronologically or any other way I can distinguish.

How is the category order on the page decided, and how can I get it to appear in the correct order, please?

  51. zdenka 21 June 2011 at 11:34 pm

    Hi Gail,

you’re really investigating this plugin! Thanks a lot for bringing all these issues up, nobody noticed this ordering problem before. We’ll fix this in the next release, so it respects the zindex defined. If you came across more issues, just let us know, we appreciate that. Thanks! Zdenka

  52. Jake 22 June 2011 at 11:53 pm

It presenting problem with wp version higher than 2.8. please advise.

  53. Martin 23 June 2011 at 7:18 am

    Hello Jake,

this plugin was designed to work in Wordpress 2.9 and above. You might have some issues with 2.8. Please be more specific.

    Thanks, Martin

  54. jerod 23 June 2011 at 10:52 am

Is anyone else having trouble in the Admin area when they try to [reject] a link? I’m getting notifications that I have a new link to approve. When I go to approve it, the [edit] and [approve] links work but the [reject] link does not. If I click [reject], the offending link disappears from my inbox but doesn’t actually get deleted. If I refresh the page the link that I just tried to reject reappears. I can’t get it to go away.

I found a work-around. I [edit] the link and delete ALL the information that was submitted. Then I [save] that link and [approve] it when I’m viewing my inbox. Then it just disappears.

I’ve also had success going in to phpMyAdmin and manually tearing it out of the database…but I don’t like to do that if I have the option.

    Anyone else having this trouble?

    I’m using WP 3.1.3 and LR 0.6.9.

Thanks for both the suggestions and the hard work on the plugin. Great work!

    –Jerod

  55. jerod 23 June 2011 at 10:53 am

P.S. The site on which we’re using this is pool-directory org if that matters.

    Thanks again!

  56. Jack Chan 24 June 2011 at 5:43 am

    Hi Gail,

Can not change the display style, such as width , text and more.

    Thanks,

  57. zdenka 27 June 2011 at 9:10 am

    Hi Jerod,

Thanks for reporting this, we’ll have a look at it!

    Hi Gail,

we’ll have a look at the style issues as well.

    Zdenka

  58. zdenka 28 June 2011 at 9:17 am

    Hello Gail,

we cleaned up those z-indexes and ordering. The higher the index, the more important link/category. If the index is the same then alphabetical order is used.

    Hi Jerod,

the rejecting of links should now work as well.

All changes are in v0.6.10 which has been just released. Zdenka

  59. jerod 28 June 2011 at 9:46 am

Thank you very much! I’ll upgrade shortly and test it out.

    Hi!

I like your plugin and installed it at: ‘www.darianculbert.com/travel-links/’

However, I do not see: “SEO information about you link partner’s site included (PR, number of cached pages, Alexa rating, …). Refresh this information with just a single click.” as you mentioned here!

Can you please let me know about this?

    Thanks! Darian
