404 Error Amazon S3 html5: Video file not found

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › 404 Error Amazon S3 html5: Video file not found

  • stickwerks 5 years, 11 months ago

I’ve uploaded a test video to Amazon S3 as private, entered metadata “video/mp4”, entered proper access keys, enabled Amazon S3 Ajax (Pro) and configured CORS. Permissions show all Yes for my AWS account. I add the video to the page, enter correct video dimensions and it shows the correct thumbnail, but when I press play I get the “html5: Video file not found” error. Video Checker identifies the problem as “File not found (HTTP 404)!” The file destination is copy path directly from the video file in the Amazon S3 bucket. The test video has different dimensions than bucket I have no idea how to fix this. My theme is WPLMS. Thank you!

    Hello stickwerks,

Thanks for reaching to us! We’re here to help you solve these issues

First of all, have you also tried to embed the video via our Amazon S3 browser?

    Thanks,
    Juraj

Hi thanks for your response. In S3 there’s a “Copy Path” button. You’d think this would copy the path to the saved video, but instead it’s an internal S3 path. I copied the video URL directly rather than using this button and everything worked. This was my first time using S3 so it might help other noobs if the instructions said not to use the Copy Path button. Best regards.

    Hello stickwerks,

Thanks for letting us know! Yes, the button copies and internal S3 path instead of public web URL. We’ll add a note into our documentation.

Thanks for providing is valuable feedback!

Making the web work for you,
    Juraj

    Hello stickwerks,

Juraj will also make the FV Player S3 Browser part of the docs, so that you can use it to pick files for FV Player and avoid having to copy-paste it.

    Thanks,
    Martin
