Using your wordpress plugin, works great so far. 2 1080p videos, mp4s hosted under my domain, all seems to work fine on PC.

However, on iPhone, on the mobile version of my site, not so good. The splash image isn’t resize properly, and the play button isn’t visible. The splash image, which is just a jpeg, only shows about 1/4 of then upper left corner of the image, and as a result the play button cant be seen.

Should this plugin do the resizing on mobile site? Or am I missing some setting?

    Hi Don,

Thank you for your bug report. I was able to reproduce the issue, so we’ll take a deeper look and let you know what could be done.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

Thanks. FYI, if you are using my site for testing, I’ve replaced the videos page in question with a temp page on my mobile site so that my customers visiting me with a mobile device will actually have videos that play. The temp page is using a different video player, with the videos loaded on a different storage location.

My website when visited via a PC, is using FV player with the videos hosted under my domain.

I’d be happy to put the non-functioning video page back up on my mobile if you need to see it. But I have attached a screen shot of my iPhone from yesterday when the issue was live on my mobile site.

    Thanks,
    Don

    Hi Don,

It seems that in the mobile version, there are FV Player scripts loading and there is no trace of any minified scripts either.

Are you using some kind of a plugin for mobile devices that strips all the JavaScript file links from HTML? Same for CSS. There are only these two and nothing else:

    http://grayareaphotographyandvideo.com/wp-content/uploads/pp/static/1515450559_mobile.css
    http://grayareaphotographyandvideo.com/wp-content/uploads/pp/static/1515450559_mobile.js

To optimize the site scripts for mobile we use the Plugin Load Filter to disable the plugins for the mobile site which are not needed and WP Rocket to defer the loading of JS and CSS and pack it all into fewer files to save HTTP requests.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

Thanks for your follow up. Honestly, I wouldn’t have any idea about a plugin that would remove JavaScripts on my mobile site. My site is ProPhoto, a mobile site is part of the admin features, but only for things like appearance of the mobile site. As for my wordpress plugins, I use Yoast SEO, Regenerate Thumbnails, Google XML Sitemaps, and UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore. Unless one of those would do that, otherwise I don’t have a clue and not enough knowledge to even know what it is.

Are you saying there is a plugin that will correct the issue?

Perhaps this is all too much for me, I just tweak my website, I’m a photographer and a web-admin. Just ya know need a video player where I can host my own video files for my site and not use Youtube or Vimeo.

    Thanks,
    Donnie

    Hi Donnie,

The easiest thing you could do is to try to turn off the plugins you have listed one by one and see if the videos start working on mobile. If they do, then it’s a compatibility issue and we can take a closer look.
I can also offer you a Pro Support Incident ticket – that is basically us fixing the issue directly on your site.

As for the Plugin Load Filter and WP Rocket, we use them for optimizing the scripts for mobile on our website, so you might try to use them, but they are definitely not necessary for FV Player.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

Thanks for your reply. I turned each plugin off, one at a time, but nothing corrected the issue. Even with every plugin deactivated the mobile page with FV player still had the issue. I’ve turned back on only the two plugins I use regularly – Yoast SEO & Google XML sitemaps.

How does a Pro support incident ticket work?

    Thanks,
    Donnie

    Hi Don,

After you pay the fee, you give us admin access to your website and we will do a quick analysis and fix the problem. The ticket covers a single issue only. More info can be found here – Pro Support Incident

    Thanks,
    Eduard
