How to prevent download video?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › How to prevent download video?

  • Loc Tran 3 years, 9 months ago

I am preparing to buy FV player but I still have some unanswered questions, please help me if possible.

    – Can I block downloads and hotlinks without using Amazone s3 services? I plan to store a large amount of video maybe 5-10 TB and more, the price of Amazone s3 is very expensive for me. I plan to use Videopress or Blackblaze s2. If it’s not possible to block downloads completely, I just need to prevent hotlinking.

    – What is the Vast/Vpaid plugin? Does it help me put ads in my videos without going through the same censorship processes as Google ads?

    Hello Loc,

thank you for reaching out to us and for your interest in using FV Player Pro!

Yes, you can block downloads and hotlinks using our Stream Loader feature: https://foliovision.com/2020/11/hls-download-protection-cloudfront

It works with most CDNs out there. Given the amount of content you intend to use, it would be a good idea to use a CDN. We recommend BunnyCDN which is also very affordable compared to others: https://bunny.net/pricing

But the stream loader feature should work just great with any other CDN you choose.

FV VAST plugin is an engine that allows you to use ads on your videos from any ad server of your choosing that provides VAST/VPAID ads. Including Google ads, but most definitely not limited to.

Let me know, if you have any other questions.

What do you think about Cloudflare, it seems it has no Data Transfer limit, I have looked at other CDNs, it charges per Gb, Wait, that means I only need one CDN network and Stream Loader enabled , I don’t need to use any service to convert to HLS stream anymore, it will protect my video, I have tried Fv player on my local host and I like its interface very much, impressed with its functionality. it, but the issue of security has always been my headache. Thank you for replying me quickly. Love it @@

Maybe I’m a little hard to understand. I can say it again. Now can I host my videos in B2 blackblaze or Videopress of wordpress plus Bunny CDN or Cloudflare to protect my videos. Am I correct or can you help me to be more specific?

    Hello Loc,

no worries, both your messages were easy to understand.

To answer your questions regarding URL Tokens: Yes, Stream Loader feature enabled and any one CDN of your choosing is enough.

However, there were some playback issues when using Clouflare’s WAF feature, so it is a good idea to have Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Pro Features -> Cloudflare support enabled.

As for encoding into HLS streams and video security, URL Tokens are just one security method. The best security available out there are Encrypted HLS Streams.

If hotlinking protection is all you need, then you’ll be all set with a CDN. However, if you are interested in Encrypted HLS, you don’t need to endlessly stress about using AWS anymore. We offer a free add-on called FV Player Coconut which helps you set up everything you need for encoding and encrypting your videos via a user-friendly wizard and then continue encoding right from WordPress. You can try it out here: https://foliovision.com/downloads/fv-player-coconut

Wow, thank you so much. I really want to use this plugin because I found a bunch of Video plugins Player , I can see it best here. Can I use another S3 Storage Service instead of DigitalOcean if I want to use encrypted HLS? It may be a bit overwhelming but, CDN only serves what matches my domain name. But the video I host on Videpress has url: videopress/video/video.mp4. Will it generate URL tokens for this video link as well? Or do I have to host the video on Space of BunnyCDN, or save the video directly on the server? Sorry that English is not my mother tongue. I’m actually using Google Translate. Haha. Have a nice day @@

    Hello Loc,

    sorry for the late reply.

FV Player Coconut as a ready-made workflow currently only supports DigitalOcean for hosting and DigitalOcean CDN or BunnyCDN for content distribution. We do plan on expanding the selection in the future.

If you decide to use the services on your own, without the automated workflow, nothing is stopping you from using any services of your choosing as long as you are sure that it is supported.

The Videopress link should work in FV Player. If the CDN of your choice will support it, then URL tokens will be created for it thanks to the stream loader feature.

    Thanks,
    Maria

Thank you very much, I have one more problem. I have set the default size for the whole video. But when uploading video, it still uses its own default size

    https://ibb.co/NL21ssZ (Set defaut 400×300)
https://ibb.co/2yBc7Kh (When uploap video, no change to 400×300)

    Hello Loc,

the size of the individual player (displayed in the second screenshot) is set to 480×480. The individual player size set in shortcode editor overrides the default player size.

Does the 480×480 size remain even after you erase the contains of width and height fields or manually rewrite them to 400×300?

    Thanks,
    Maria
