Hello, is there a way to get FV player to display special characters instead of ‘?’ (circled area in pic below) for non-english captions ?

Hello Greg,

It’s possible to have special characters in your subtitles. It just needs to be in UTF-8 format.

Let us know if converting your subtitles to UTF-8 helped.

UTF-8 format works, thanks!. But for some reason, German language WTT file does not show when trying to upload in wordpress (‘add media’) to reference in fv player shortcode. I speculate that WP rejects characters in the wtt file and prevents file from being uploaded as media.

Hello Greg,

the extension should be .vtt. We whitelist that extension in FV Player, otherwise WordPress wouldn’t let you upload that file. So if you named it .wtt by accident, it might fail to upload for that reason.

Thanks Martin, for pointing out that the error in the file extension name.

It now works.
