Change Video Name?

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Change Video Name?

  • riw777 11 months, 3 weeks ago

If I try to upload a video through coconut and it fails for some reason, the next time I try to upload it the result is xxxx-2, etc. … a number is being added after the name. This results in an fvplayer video with a dash-number after it.

I use the video name to sort the videos on my training site, so I don’t want these numbers … I want to be able to delete the original failed job and rename the successful job to the correct name. There doesn’t appear to be any way to do this … the name of the video cannot be edited.

Has anyone figure out how to do this?

    Hello riw777,

Please check in wp-admin -> FV Player -> Coconut Jobs. You should be able to delete the jobs which resulted in errors:

FV Player Coconut Video Encoding Jobs

The videos encoded with FV Player Coconut are not easy to rename as the videos are also encrypted and we need to know which video is being played by the video playback engine.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello riw777,

I should add that these failing videos will have to be removed from the source videos DigitalOcean Spaces too. As otherwise FV Player will find that the file already exist and append the number again.

    Thanks,
    Martin

What I discovered is that if I go into digital ocean and change the directory name, then change the matching directory name in the fvplayer, it seems to rename the player.

    Hello Russ,

If you rename the video in the source videos Space it should work, however you should never rename an encoded video if it’s also encrypted.

Please let us know if you are still getting failed encodings and it would be good to solve the issue where is starts.

    Thanks,
    Martin
