Admin Video Checker doesn’t work

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Admin Video Checker doesn’t work

  • Edward 3 years, 3 months ago

    Hi,

I’ve created admin user with Administrator group especially for debugging fv player videos. Log as admin but I still do not see any debugging messages when start playing videos. “Disable Admin Video Checker” option is unselected. I use the latest version of WordPress. How to turn the checker on?

    Hello Edward,

Admin checker should work fine if you’re logged-in as Admin and the feature isn’t turned off.

Can you please send us your System info so we can check you settings?

You can find it at: Settings –> FV Player Pro -> Tools -> System info

    Thanks for using our player,
    Juraj

    Hello Edward,

    Thanks for the system info!

Have you made those admin user accounts with basic WordPress new user tool or did you use any 3rd party plugin to do that?

    Thanks for reaching to us,
    Juraj

    Juraj,

I created admin user via WP GUI. No any unusual things.

    Hello Edward,

    1) what video type are you using? If is an MP4 or HLS video, or YouTube?

    2) Please open the page where you video should be and then open the source code. In Chrome it’s View -> Developer -> View Source, in Firefox it’s Tools -> Web Developer -> Page Source.

You will get a new browser tab full of HTML code. Please use the Find feature (in Chrome it’s Edit -> Find -> Find…, in Firefox it’s Edit -> Find in This Page) to look for “video_checker” (without the quotes). Do you get any results?

    3) Using the same Find feature, look for “video-checker.js” (without the quotes). Do you get any results?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

    1) I’ve tested mp4 (local and s3) and hls s3 videos.

    2) Yes.
For “video_checker” as a part of var fv_flowplayer_conf.
For “video-checker” as a part of string class=”video-checker-result”>Checking the video file..

    3) No results for video-checker.js

    Hello Edward,

thank you for posting these details.

    4) One more test – can you find any occurrence of “data-item” ?

It’s starting to look like your video player is loaded with Ajax and our Video Checker doesn’t react to that.

Or perhaps your user doesn’t have the “manage_options” capability. We should fix that to use edit_posts instead.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

it seems the problem was in ‘Absolutely Glamorous Custom Admin’ plugin that customize admin toolbar and blocked a permission dialog box to allow running video checker js:
    =====
FV Player includes a free video checker which will check your videos for any encoding errors and helps ensure smooth playback of all your videos. To work its magic, our video checker must contact our server.

Would you like to enable the video encoding checker?
    ======

So I was unaware of this dialog box.

Now I see ‘Admin: Checking the video file…’ and then
‘Admin: Check failed…’ messages in my video.

Browser console shows now that https://video-checker.foliovision.com/ rejects CORS query from my side.

    Hello Edward,

I don’t see why it would block requests from your website https://g..e.ru – is that really the full URL or are you running it on a custom port?

    Thanks,
    Martin
