10s preview (or more) for non subscribers ?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › 10s preview (or more) for non subscribers ?

  • Cédric 5 years ago

    Hello there
    Everything fine with the player but we have a little question :
    Is it possible to have 10s preview (or more) for non-subscribers ?
    I know there is the “Per Pay view” plugin but we use a subscription system (for one year with stripes) we don’t want to sell each vidéo individualy.
    Do you have an idea ?
    Thanks :)

    Hello Cirdec,

    thanks for reaching out to us!

    The length of preview video depends on the length of the video file you enter as the preview video.

    As for the possibility of video unlocking based on membership instead of payment, I will have to consult our development team about possible solutions for the Stripe Partners membership plugins.

    Making the web work for you,
    Maria

    Hello
    Any news ?

    Hello Cirdec,

    the FV Player Pay Per View plugin does let you buy individual videos using Easy Digital Downloads plugin. There is a WooCommerce version too.

    It also checks if the user has the Restrict Content Pro membership – using a simple code like this:

    $member = new RCP_Member( get_current_user_id() );
    if( $member->can_access( $post->ID ) ) {
      // give access to the video
    }

    Perhaps it would be possible to support Paid Memberships Pro too. But their documentation pages seem to be locked for users without license: https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/documentation/content-controls/

    So I’m not sure about this – could you please ask Paid Memberships Pro support if they provide a PHP function to check if user has access to the post or not?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin
    Like this ?

    PMPro includes a built-in function allowing you to require membership or require a specific membership level for your custom web applications. You will need to know the ID or Name for the member level(s) you would like to check for. The membership level ID and Name can be found in the “Membership Levels” admin page.

    Check for a specific membership level with ID 12

    <?php
    if(pmpro_hasMembershipLevel('12'))
    {
    ?>
    //Place your HTML or PHP code here if the user is in the required membership level
    ...
    <?php
    }
    ?>

    Check for a specific membership with name ‘Gold’

    <?php
    if(pmpro_hasMembershipLevel('Gold'))
    {
    ?>
    //Place your HTML or PHP code here if the user is in the required membership level
    ...
    <?php
    }
    ?>

    Check for any membership levels with ID 12, 14 or name=Gold

    <?php
    if(pmpro_hasMembershipLevel(array('12','14','Gold')))
    {
    ?>
    //Place your HTML or PHP code here if the user is in the required membership level
    ...
    <?php
    }
    ?>

    Check for a specific user_id (i.e. not the current user).

    <?php
    $user_id = 1;	//some other user
    if(pmpro_hasMembershipLevel('1', $user_id))
    {
    ?>
    //Place your HTML or PHP code here if the user is in the required membership level
    ...
    <?php
    }
    ?>

    Hello Cirdec,

    that could work, but when we would have to add a setting to let you decide which memership levels give users permissions to watch the PPV videos.

    Is there a PHP function to check if current user has access to a specific post or page? That’s what we use for Restrict Content Pro and it’s easier that way as we do not have to add any settings.

    Thanks,
    Martin
