Hello Clod,
It probably won’t work. It looks like they have their own video player solution, which is paid – https://www.peepso.com/downloads/vidso/.
Thanks,
EduardReplay from developers
Shortcodes are stripped from posts. They won’t be allowed unless through some integration. Just will not. Reason?
Imagine a situation where anyone can embed a shortcode on a post or within comments. That shortcode will render something. Sometimes some content is not safe in a given context. There’s no way to control it.
Any chances to fix that FV-Player’s shortcodes stripping ?
Hi clod,
The only solution that comes to my mind is to embed videos as iframes from another website. Here’s our iframe guide, just in case.
Thanks,
EduardBUT IN ALL SERIOUSNESS… all those plugins (FV PLAYER) that you are referring to just need to be integrated with PeepSo. We are open source. To integrate with PeepSo is easy. It’s all filters etc. Those plugins simply need to have that done on their end. If they want to introduce new things to PeepSo ecosystem they can do it. Maybe they’ll need some slight adjustements / additions to our code to happen. But the devs can just contact us and we’ll add it. That’s about it.
Feel free to create own plugins for PeepSo too. Here’s our Hello World plugin that can be used as a base for anything. It showcases how things link to each other etc too: https://github.com/PeepSo/peepso-tools-helloworld
Any integration chances for Pro users ?
Hello Clod,
I’m sorry but we have very limited resources and we have to choose very carefully where to invest the programming manpower we have available. We are currently focusing on other projects since we didn’t get any other feature requests for this and the PeepSo plugin seems to not be as used (1000+ installations according to plugins page on WP.rog) so it probably won’t change anytime soon.
Thanks,
EduardHello Eduard
I am starting a noncommercial website. I can only buy premium plugins but I do not have extra money for custom development. Unfortunately, I cannot use FVplayer Pro on my site…The PeepSo community needs the world best player (FVplayer Pro) for WordPress. For now there is no any reliable player for PeepSo. Behand PeepSo there is only premium plugins. I sure that FVPlayer sales will increase and all PeepSo users will use paid version of the FVPlayer instead of using PeepSo video addon.
Hello Clod,
As I said in the previous message, the PeepSo plugin has only has only 1000+ installs, so that’s not a very rentable market. FV Player alone has 30 000+ installs, so there is only a limited number of new users we could get and we really don’t have the resources to do so right now. As I said, I’m sorry, but development is very expensive.
Thanks,
EduardHi Clod,
If you want a price estimate of the integration, I can pass it to sales and let you know.
As for the download link – if you mean the free plugin, you can download it from this link. If you meant FV Player Pro, that can be downloaded from https://foliovision.com/my-licenses after you have purchased the license.
Thanks,
EduardHello Clod,
Eduard is gone for a long weekend, he will get back to you about PeepSo.
Regarding FV Player Pro – please make sure you access https://foliovision.com/my-licenses with the account which you used to buy FV Player license, if you have one. If you purchased with PayPal, it used your PayPal email address to create your account.
Thanks,
MartinHello Clod,
I checked the Hello World plugin for PeepSo, but it’s too basic.
I see the VideoSo plugin works pretty nicely: https://www.peepso.com/downloads/vidso/#prettyPhoto
Not only it adds a button to insert a video, but it then also lists there videos on your profile etc. So it’s not easy to beat. If we only make sure shortcodes are supported it won’t list the videos so nicely and users will also have though time inserting the videos.
I imagine we could change the way the videos from VideoSo are displayed to use FV Player, but I guess it would be a custom programming job.
Thanks,
MartinHi Clod,
Thanks for your help getting full access to PeepSo. We’ve looked carefully at the code.
Based on the current architecture of PeepSo, enabling alternative video technology would be days of work. PeepSo’s handling of content is entirely separate from WordPress.
We will ask the plugin authors to make the video display code modular or at least provide some filters for the HTML output of it.
If not, it’s just too big a job. The investment to write a bridge to PeepSo would be at least $2000.
Thanks.
Making the web work for you, Alec
Hello Clod,
we got a reply from PeepSo CTO Matt:
We get these embed codes straight from the APIs of the video hosting services. I can pass this entire output through a filter, but not sure how useful would that be for you?
I ensured him it’s just what we need, so hopefully it will be part of one of the next versions. Then it should be really easy for us to let FV Player display these videos.
Thanks,
MartinHosting services ? I cannot understand. I will use self hosted videos.
I am planning using only three features
1) Video Linking (PeepSo stripping all urls in comments (and in stream) for safety reasons.
2) Interactive Transcript (my preferred feature)
3) Interactive Transcript with ChaptersHaving FVPLAYER icon to generate (with subtitles and transcript ect) shortode will be also great like a standard FVPLAYER feature but it is already great news that FVPLAYEWR’s shurtcode will not be stripped..
Thank you. Cannot wait to test FVPALYER PeepSo integration.
Hello Clod,
I see, we thought you just want to show the videos insterted with PeepSo Video addong in FV Player. If you would like tho use FV Player in your posts created in PeepSo, then you will have to talk to them to allow use of shortcodes. If we would have to provide a new video button like PeepSo Video addon does, it would be a fairly big project.
Thanks,
Martin
