HTML5 error after adding SSL to site

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player VAST › Troubleshooting › HTML5 error after adding SSL to site

  • Arthur 8 months, 4 weeks ago

My site was working fine with until I added an SSL certificate to the site and suddenly I started getting error messages on my videos. I removed the SSL certificate and I still get the error message.

If I deactivate the plugin and reactivate it will that work? I’ve advised people to allow “flash” in their website settings but it’s a bit of a pain, and mobile users have to download a different browser.

    Thanks

    Hello Arthur,

please check your videos without our video checker and let us know what you get: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/how-to-use-video-checker

It seems to me you must simply be linking to your videos using http:// and that’s no longer working on https:// enabled websites in new Chrome and perhaps even the other browsers.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello,

I get a green Admin: Video Ok but I still get a html5 error. I attached screenshots to show what the video checker is giving me. My site no longer has an SSL certificate on it. When I changed the video link to https I got a red error message on the video checker.

    Thanks

    Hello Arthur,

Please try checking that video with your browsers JScript console. If you don’t know hot to use console you can follow this guide. Open your console and try to recreate the issue.

If any error appears in the log, please copy its content to your reply.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hello Arthur,

your video file is missing extension, so then FV Player doesn’t know it’s a HTML5 compatible video and tries to load it with Flash which you don’t have installed.

You can append #.mp4 to the file URL to trick FV Player into thinking it’s a MP4 file, but it would be better to rename that video file to use the actual file extension.

    Thanks,
    Martin
