Promote Your Video On a Budget

29 July 2019 / Sonia Slaninkova / Leave a Comment

You grasp for fans for videos you passionately prepare but nobody watches? Do you have just enough money to buy monthly Spotify license but would like to pay ad promotion too? Calm down, there are ways to promote content without ripping your wallet off. Or more precisely, there are ways to promote for free. You only need to squeeze all out of social media’s offer.

Here’s how!

WHEN ON FACEBOOK

Facebook is very simple to use so let’s begin with it. Let’s use our daily routine to our benefit.

Firstly, create a catchy post and share it with your friends. Add hashtags, tag friends, companies or anyone you would like to link your post with. Ask them to share the content.

Secondly, join FB groups that match your video and post into groups. The advice is to promote smartly. Greet the group, share your emotions towards the video and suggest watching it. Do not only spam with your ad.

Thirdly, join FB pages. The same applies to pages as to groups. Like pages suitable for your video content, post your video with a lovely comment that will attract your audience and don’t forget to be polite, thankful and reply, when someone gets engaged with your video too.

Finally, pin the video in your ‘’About’’. This section belongs to one of the first things people will see when visiting your page.

WHEN ON TWITTER

Twitter is mostly used by businesses and therefore you’ll certainly gain more followers here than on Facebook when advertising. Users are active, trying to share and follow every post and page to gain more traffic and more followers. The same can happen to your content if you’ll do precisely the same for them. But there are also other ways to achieve our goal.

Get engaged!

Firstly, pin your tweet to ensure your content stays front to get the highest level of exposure. Truly, you should pin all of your best content to guide your followers to your most successful posts.

Secondly, manage tweet threads to your advantage. Just use the “+” button when composing a tweet. It is a series of thoughts linked together that will help your video stay alive for a bit longer than in one-series post.

Thirdly, don’t forget to get some targeted tweeting done. Search for similar topics, words or hashtags your video is related to and comment on the posts. Put the link into the comment and add a nice reply. However, do not only promote yourself, but also express your opinion to the post you put your comment below.

Lastly, organizing a tweet chat is a great way to get people talking about your channel. Choose a topic and a hashtag. Then, plan a time and date to get tweeting with your subscribers and invite other content creators to get involved.

USE INSTAGRAM

Instagram is the third most-successful social media with its Stories as the top engaging feature. Non-business users have already stopped scrolling on Facebook and Twitter, but rather open the app of Instagram and procrastinate there.

The advantage of Instagram lies in its finely cut pieces of users’ feed. One picture, short text, quick like. One doesn’t get fed up. We suggest the following to increase the traffic :

It’s essential to gain followers. Otherwise, the likelihood of your video popularity is poor.

The next step is to post a clip in your Story (you might also post the whole video, depends on its length), but don’t forget to put the link into swipe-up.

Followingly, post the whole video on IG TV and a clip in your feed to catch viewers to open the rest on IG TV. Attach also a link to the video you have on a different media (might be your blog, or a youtube channel).

And finally, put the link in your bio.

GENERAL IDEAS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA

  1. WHERE ARE YOUR SHARE BUTTONS?!
If you want the viewers to share your video it’s essential to make it possible for them. Add share buttons for all social media to your video. This digital wrinkle is more useful than you would think. As you prepare custom tweet and visuals for sharing, it’s more probable someone will take the trouble to click on the button.
  2. SWAP YOUR CONTENT
Rather than paying sites think of friends or acquaintance you could ask for help. Make a reciprocal deal with them. It will work as long as you promote their products too. Send a couple of e-mails with the suggestion of a content swap and wait for your video promotion. It will be helpful for both of you. However, it is important to know what the people you contact work with. You want to fit your video into their concept.
  3. HAVE SUBSCRIBERS?
If you have people who already subscribed to your newsletter or Youtube channel, they will probably be interested in the new content you have to offer. Include videos in your email and encourage people to visit the website channel or simply link readers to video via still images or GIF files.
  4. USE OLDER POPULAR POSTS
Find old posts which get the most traffic and get your new video involved. You might embed the video inside the older post or simply supply a summary and link. Find an angle to relate the new video marketing content to your old post or simply suggest it as something viewers might also be interested in. It surely helps you maximize the value of your older content.
  5. ADD CTA
Drop a ‘’share’’ call-to-action at the end of the videos! Even though not every viewer is going to follow your CTA those who will are the most likely part of your target audience. Thanks to that, you can target groups too.
  6. USE HASHTAGS AND COMMENTS
Hashtags! The more you add the more (follows) you get. Be precise, use only words that involve the topic, and as mentioned before, you can promote your videos by linking them or embedding within responses or comments. By being social you both raise the profile and develop a connection with users. Creating a relationship between you and followers leads to ongoing engagement with your content.
  7. HAVE STRONG KEYWORDS AND TITLE
Do not mislead the visitor with your title. Create it exactly according to the content of your video. You want to hit the targeted audience, right? Use strong catchy titles. Make me wanna hit the play button.
  8. UTILIZE THUMBNAILS
Yes, indeed, thumbnails won’t help you turn up in research results but it’s a fact that they have a huge impact on viewers choice on what to watch. Your thumbnails represent your video, tell the audience what you’re offering at a glance.
  9. MAKE A PLAYLIST                                                                                            Create a playlist on a Youtube channel. Collect similar content videos, choose those which have a lot of subscribers and views and add yours to them. Playlists are an underestimated tool but do work.
