One of the great ways to bring visitors back to your site is to allow them to subscribe to comments (we recommend leaving the checkbox ticked off by default but if you are more aggressive you can leave it on). On the other hand, easy one click unsubscribe is essential to avoid spam reports.
If you do, you might be using Subscribe to Comments Reloaded. We started to use that one once Subscribe to Comments and Gurken Subscribe to Comments were both retired by their owners.
Subscribe to Comments Reloaded a good plugin, but a bit complex. We didn’t liked that unsubscribing from the notifications requires too many steps, so we created an add-on plugin which simplifies unsubscribe for normal users.
Subscribe to Comments Reloaded Better Unsubscribe
This plugin unsubscribes the person right away from the post for which the notification was received and adds a “You are now unsubscribed from {post title}” visual notification about that to the above management page. That is a single click to unsubscribe. But they can still use the subscription management page to adjust other subscriptions.
Here’s how our plugin improves the Subscribe to Comments Reloaded notifications
Here’s the instant unsubscribe in action – you just click the link like the one in above screenshot and you are unsubscribed from the post:
