Thanks for the reply. No I have not enabled auto-delete spam option in Akismet. In any case, I delete my spam and trash folders daily. I don’t think these are interfering with the count.

For example, I may log in to WordPress in the night and FV blocked count may be 300. There may be a few spam and trashed comments which I delete. Then next morning, the count jumps to say 3000, though there are just a few new comments (including spam & trash) since last night. Then again in the evening it might come down to a few hundred. I remember at one time it was as high as 40,000. Currently it is around 400 :).

No I am using W3 Total Cache and no other caching plugin.
