Vimeo reliability issues

    Hi Eduard.

We also have a few customers who get “html5: Video file not found”. For example, today, Vietnam has a problem loading a vide.

[~/www/institute]# wp plugin list | grep fv
    fv-wordpress-flowplayer active none 6.6.5
    fv-player-pro active none 7.1.5.726.beta

Currently we have DASH turned OFF. It seems like for both DASH ON and OFF, it will cause “html5: Video file not found” for some % of people (or geographic locations?).

We are not sure what the protocol should be for handling such bug reports. Should we report each individual case here to you, and we investigate together? Is there something extra we can do on our own (video format, Vimeo settings, etc)?

Is DASH safer OFF or ON in general?

    Hello Leho,

use of Dash streams for Vimeo will be the new default soon. FV Player 7 Beta which you are using did improve that a lot and also made the videos harder to download that way. Vimeo is also hosting it on multiple CDNs, in contrary to MP4 files.

Could you please post a link to the page where the issue seems to be occurring? Did you use Google Analytics to gather the information about % of users having these issues? Here is our guide: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/google-analytics-fv-player#video-errors

    Thanks,
    Martin

Our videos are paid content, public links won’t help.

We could provide one-off access to your support staff when incidents arise. Do you think we could do a simple cross-company Slack channel for posting the links? They have that built in now.

    Hello Leho,

you can post the links here and just say it should not be published and we will redact these links. Or you can reply to the forum notifications and then it goes to our ticketing system.

    Thanks,
    Martin
