Hi,
It’s Deeveearr from the WordPress Forums keeping you updated on what happens to the issue of ‘Playback Failing’ and getting the error message of: html5: Video not found.
I’ve just done an upgrade to Shortpixel Image Optimizer, meaning that I needed to clear my Litespeed Cache again, and whereas clearing my browsing history worked last time (to make FV Player work again) this time it did not.
So I’ve got in touch with Dropbox (the video host (and yes, it’s a paid plan)) asking why videos refuse to play from there.
They’re closed over the weekend I’m afraid, so I won’t get a reply until Monday morning, but I’ll keep in touch and let you know what happens.

Hello Ray,
If you are finally able to play Dropbox videos properly, then it’s good to know what Dropbox supports that officially.
If it’s not the case, then please let us know what Dropbox URL does not play and I will test it in a bare-bones HTML5 video tag – which is a good way of testing why it won’t play in FV Player.

Hi Martin,
I found a wonderful workaround from the Dropbox Community which was a Dropbox Link Generator.
I just had to grab the newly generated links from the generator and throw them into FV Player, and all of the videos work perfectly now.

If you could post one of such links that would be great. I would like to see if it really looks like something that will work for a good long time and won’t just time out in a couple of days.

Sure, here’s the link from the same video that was tried out in the WordPress Forums:
Inserting it into FV Player makes it fire up immediately with no html5: Video is not recognised errors.
Oh, and it also works with raw=1 inserted into the generator instead of needing to substitute it from dl=0 – but the above link was submitted with dl=0 added as it was one of the first videos that I tried.

Thank you for providing the sample link. However I must say that it looks the same as the original link which was causing the issues.
So I wonder if the Dropbox Link Generator adjusted some hidden sharing properties of the file or if it will stop working again in couple of days.
However there is one more thing that changed since last time – you mentioned you are using Dropbox pro now, so maybe that way it will keep playing.
