Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › black line after playing video in ios safari
-
The plug in works fine but I notice in IOS Safari after playing a video and going back to main page there is a black line. It’s in Ipad and Iphone. It only does this after playing a video. In order to get the black line gone you have to close that tab and open it back up.
It might be because of the black border around the video. I have the turned off but it still shows. How do I remove it?

Hello Smith234,
I can’t replicate the issue.
Could you please provide a URL where we can see this? Or use “Send to Foliovision” feature of the admin video checker (read “How to check my video properties using the built-in checker and how to report video not playing” in our faq).
Is it happening when you are not logged in? Is it happening with the default WordPress template?
Thanks,
MartinHello Smith234,
that’s weird. Are you using any Ajax loading for your pages? Normally visiting another page initiates a new page rendering, so it’s not possible that some elements stay and mess up the display.
Otherwise this seems like a problem with your “iDevice”. Have you tried some other iPad/iPhone?
Thanks,
MartinHello Smith234,
player border can be turned off in Settings -> FV WordPress Flowplayer -> Player Skin -> border.
However I don’t see how it can possibly affect your other pages after viewing the video. Are you sure it’s not there even if you don’t play the video at all and go directly to that different page?
Thanks,
MartinHello Smith234,
so it might be some CSS conflict.
You can use your browser developer tools to figure out element is in getting bad CSS from our plugin, although it’s not likely. Are you sure that it happens without out plugin? Does it happen with the default template?
Also, if you just buy our license, then we can have a look at your site directly and come up with a fix for the issue.
Thanks,
MartinHello Smith234,
If my suggestion about where to turn off the border didn’t helped, it must be something else.
I’m sorry, but I already posted you all the suggestions above. We can’t go further without that or having a look at your site (a screenshot, or a license required).

There is a link. I pray that can be fixed. Going to that then going back to the main page it still shows the line. The JWplayer plugin doesn’t do that.
Hello Smith234,
I’m not seeing it on iPad OS 5.1.1. When I come back to homepage, I don’t see any weird border.
All I can see is a 1px left border on the video player. You can also try to set the Player Skin -> Canvas to match the background color of your site and see if that helps. This problem might be caused by using a splash image with different aspect ratio than the video.
If that doesn’t help perhaps you have some custom app installed. I’m also seeing some errors on iPad error console, so you should check these out.
Thanks,
MartinHello Smith234,
we released the new version just now. It was delayed because of our improvements of the playlist system and interface.
Could you please let us know if it helped with your issue?
Tho get the playlist items on the right side, you can try to set the player alignment to left (either CSS or enable “Align” in Settings -> FV WordPress Flowplayer -> Post Interface Options), set it width to something lower than the content width and then the playlist items should show up there. It’s really just a matter of CSS, but we could include this as a preset as it’s attractive.
Thanks,
MartinHi Martin,
I’ve only one new issue with your plugin:
Visit my page with an Apple-IOS-based device like IPad oder IPone will leave a thiin black line (or sometimes two lines) on every page that you call after visiting a page with FVFlowplayer-Content.
Please see my site (I have a license) on your apple mobile device for an example. On an other device than Apple (like a Samsung S3) the issue doesn’t appear.
regards
MichaelHi Michael,
I tested this out and this seems to be caused by one of the OptimizePress CSS files: http://www.auerswald-tutorials.de/wp-content/plugins/optimizePressPlugin/lib/assets/default.min.css?ver=2.1.7.1
Making the web work for you,
MartinDear Martin,
I’m sorry, but there’s no context between OptimizePress CSS and fvplugin.
I deleted the plugin, but the behavior is the same (see ….de/fvhome2)
I figured out, that this issue depends on the used link to the video. If I select this soure “http://player.vimeo.com/external/1234.hd.mp4?s=….” then the thin black line appears. If I use https://vimeo.com/1234 there is no line visible.
I like to use the short version of the url (this one beginning with “https://vimeo…”) because that the only possibility to protect my video against illegal download or embedding it on foreign sites (as you did in your example page)
But if I use the preferred url “https://vimemo/myvideonumer” , the autoplay does’nt work.
Btw.: Autoplay never works on mobile devices as IPAD oder IPHONE.
What can I do or what can you do to solve this issue?
regards
MichaelHello Michael,
1) Black line – I don’t see if on http://…de/fvhome2 Tested on iPad with iOS 5.1.1.
Make sure you close and re-open the browser tab between the tests. Once this iPad bug occurs, it affects the browser for rest of the session. We noticed this bug before, but it was fixed. It had something to do with manipulating the HTML5 tags and some iPads didn’t liked that.
I see no black line on http://….de/fvhome either, that one is an iframe embed of Vimeo provided by our plugin.
2) Vimeo videos – “http://player.vimeo.com/external/1234.hd.mp4?s=…..” is the MP4 path, in that case FV Flowplayer plays the video file. But it you enter the Vimeo URL https://vimeo.com/1234 then it just uses iframe to embed the video. That explains the difference.
3) Autoplay issues – this is not supported by iPad and iPhone, but we will check some JavaScript solution for this for at least iPad. iPhone uses it’s own player, so it may not be possible.
Thanks,
MartinHello Michael,
I can see it too. It seems to be caused by the same OptimizePress CSS file. I believe I found a fix.
Please reinstall FV Flowplayer from this ZIP file, it’s the latest development version and let us know if it helps: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/fv-wordpress-flowplayer.zip
Thanks,
MartinHello Michael,
could you please check if it also happens if you disable autoplay for the video?
Hello Chan,
as you are also our licensed user, I checked your site, but I’m not seeing the problem. I see a black line on both iPad and Safari on your “…2-23-24…” video, but that’s because your video is 16:9 aspect ratio and you inserted it with 600px width which is not divisible by 16. That creates uneven number and causes these issues. We are still looking how to prevent these.
Thanks,
Martin
