    Hi –

I am trying to troubleshoot the quality switching option. It would be helpful if there was a demo set of .mp4 files already prepared. Does anyone have a link to three that I could download please? Hopefully, they are ones that are set to work with quality switching. Many thanks

    David

    Hello Dave,

you can use the following file URL: https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/fv-flowplayer-bucket/Swan+Lake+Reloaded-sd.mp4

The quality configuration the same as in the step 3. here: https://foliovision.com/player/switch-video-quality

Don’t forget to check the step 5. as well – adding qsel=”true” to the shortcode.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin

Thanks for the fast response. I was able to download the other two files by changing the ending to -hd and -mobile.

I will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

    Hi

I have made a test page http://davidburnett.co.uk/flowplayer-test-page/ and the videos you provided work fine. With my own video, I have warnings. I tried MP4 fast start but that doesn’t clear it. With Quicktime Pro 7, I can see the setting for “Movie Properties -> Video Track -> Other Settings turn on the “Cache (hint)”” but after that I don’t know how to save the file.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Dave

Update: I now have handbrake installed. The latest version is simplified compared to the foliovision FAQ screenshot, but I think I have success. I now have a green OK!

    Hello Dave,

good news that the HandBrake has improved. Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, I got confused where I have the Quick Time Pro installed.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

I have my videos prepared now, but even with the sample videos, I cannot seem to make the default quality appear. For example, if I prefer to have the SD version shown, the HD version comes up. Please can you check this page please?

    Hello Dave,

you must sort the qualities (you can use drag and drop) and put the default one to the top. See step 3. here: https://foliovision.com/player/switch-video-quality Just make sure the SD quality as at the top.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Yes, changing that order did the trick, thank you. I am pleased with the result. Thank you for your quick response.

By the way, have you considered using a plugin such as Mobble to detect the type of device / screen? I have had good success with this plugin.

    Kind regards,

    Dave

    Hello Dave,

if you mean adding a mobile version of our forums – we will be changing our forums to bbPress 2 soon, so then we will finally use a single template for our whole website and that will allow us to optimize it for mobile.

    Thanks,
    Martin
