additional field for audio file

Hello,

I would like to propose to consider adding an additional checkbox “show the video as audio” or smth like that to add audio player below the video.
All users are different, different devices and type of internet connection. Someone saves mobile traffic, someone likes to listen to audio, and someone just wants to read the transcript They will have the choice of watching video or listening to audio, both with chapter and transcript support.

thank you for your interesting suggestion. I will ask our development team what they think about it.

Alternatively, FV Player also works with audio files: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/audio-tracks-player

You could do a version of this, where you insert both the video and the audio players to the post individually, and let the users pick which they like.

Let me know what you think, although the alternative might not be quite as aesthetically pleasing.

Hello Maria,

yes, but it seems to be excess because you have to have both video and audio file. And there will probably be duplicates of chapters and transcripts on the page.

The next step in development would be to synchronize the state of the video and audio players so that the user can switch between video and audio at any time during playback. And all this with the current support of the chapters and the transcript.

Hello Edward,

we could add a setting to FV Player Coconut to enable audio-only output. Then it could be presented in some attractive way, so that people can see they can watch the video or play the audio only.

However it wouldn’t likely work on iPhone, we would probably have to serve a separate stream for that.
