    Video plays in Chrome but without any audio. This happens on mobile and desktop versions. Plays fine in Edge and IE browsers, have not tried Firefox. I have tried multiple formats of video/audio and all result in the same problem. When I first uploaded the video, the audio played fine. I have tried clearing cache as well as trying it on different pc/tablets and none play audio in Chrome

    Update: If I turn off the autoplay function then when I press play in Chrome I get the audio but with autoplay enabled there is no audio

    Hello Matt,

    the behavior which you are describing is correct. Chrome doesn’t permit autoplay videos to play sound. User has to unmute the video manually to hear the sound.

    Once user interacts with the video like that Chrome increases the Media Engagement Index (MEI) for the website and will allow audible autoplay for that particular website in the future.

    So without a volume control visible on the embedded video, how can you unmute the video? I tried to find a setting but was unable and I don’t really want to put controls on the video

    Hello Matt,

    how do you hide the player controls? Use controlbar=”no” in the shortcode and you will get a crossed out speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the video which is a good indication of the video being muted.
