Using FVPlayer with ‘video’ type wordpress post

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Using FVPlayer with ‘video’ type wordpress post

  • Kerry A. 3 years, 4 months ago

    Hi folks.

I have recently renewed my licence, and am now reenabling FVplayer on the site.

I am trying to get it to also manage/play the inbuilt ‘video’ post videos – but can’t seem to get it to work?

Can someone point me in the right direction to fix?

    Example – top video – https://goodblokes.nz/hitting-the-bar-a-day-fishing-in-the-manukau/

    Thanks!

    Hello Kerry,

thank you for reaching out to us! We are thrilled to hear you have chosen to use FV Player Pro again.

Could you please elaborate a bit more on what do you mean by “inbuilt ‘video’ post videos”?

Do you by any chance mean the video block for Gutenberg or other page builder? FV Player has its own block in most page builders and cannot be used via the regular video block.

Or is it something connected to the theme you are using? If so, which theme?

    Thanks,
    Maria

So, in the link example – the video post type is selected, you enter a YouTube/Vimeo URL in a metadata box, and the video is used instead of a featured image in the theme.

I thought I saw an article sort of explaining this on the site here, but can’t see to relocate it.

    Hello Kerry,

    sorry for the late reply.

Please, go to Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Integration/Compatibility -> Add featured image automatically

This makes it so that if you do not set a featured image manually, the splash image of the first player on the site will be used automatically.

Let me know, if this is what you’ve been looking for.

    Thanks,
    Maria

No. Think we have a bit of a misunderstanding. :)

So – as per the example in the link.

The video embed at the top of the page is

    div id=”player”

The URL for it is provided by a custom attribute in the post editor.

Another way of saying it, I think, is how do I get FVplayer to render the “player” Div id instead of the youtube or vimeo embed?

    I have the options:

    Handle WordPress audio/video:
    Parse Vimeo and YouTube links:

but it doesn’t seem to work on the videos at the top of the page.

    Thanks.

    Hello Kerry A.,

this really depends on the theme you are using. I see it’s the Newspaper theme: https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609?_ga=2.241147275.945239491.1641193907-1757184971.1641193907

Do they provide any documentation on how the video output can be customized or what WordPress actions or filters does it use? At a glance I was not able to find what I was looking for: https://forum.tagdiv.com/search/video/

So this would likely require some custom programming to create a child theme which would use all of the Newspaper theme and only adjust the video display to use FV Player.

    Thanks,
    Martin
