Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Show order button after X seconds of video playback

1) Can I set up the FV Flowplayer WordPress plugin so my “Order” button will appear below the video at a specific time during the video? And just to clarify, I don’t want the button to appear based on the time when the page loads but rather at an exact time during the video.
2) And if that is possible, will that work on all the usual desktop and laptop browsers and all mobile iOS and Android devices?
Thank you very much.

Yes, the button will appear when you want it too. No, putting the order button in the video and making it open up a link to buy in ALL mobile devices will not work. It will work in most. Mobile devices handle video and overlays quite different than desktop browsers so guaranteeing that will be beyond the scope of any product. I would suggest doing it the way you want to for desktop but offering a different view with a more conventional order button for mobile. Based on lots and lots of experience.

Hello magentawave,
we will add a setting to show the standard ad code after X seconds, so you will be able to use that: https://foliovision.com/player/adding-ads
Thanks,
MartinHello magentawave,
sorry about the delay, we got bogged down in solving server issues.
The idea is that you can enter your button HTML as the ad. So just put the right class on it and make sure it has the right a href link.
If you install our latest development version from this ZIP file: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/master.zip Then you will see a setting in Setting -> FV Player -> Ads -> “Show after”. You can enter 5 in there and your button HTML to the above box as per this guide: https://foliovision.com/player/adding-ads
That should allow you to put in your HTML and have it show up after a set time.
Thanks,
Martin1) And is the “show after” function set to make the order button appear at a specific time based on the video playing or is the time based on when the page loads?
2) If it’s based on appearing at a specific time of the video playing, does that mean that if I set it to the order button to appear at 15 minutes into the video and they pause the video at 10 minutes and come back later and unpause it that the order button will appear 5 minutes later?
3) Does the new version of FV Player works with Optimizepress?
4) Why after installing and activating FV Player are there TWO links in the WP Admin right sidebar? (One link says “FV Player” and the other link says “FV Flowplayer WordPress Plugin” and both links go to a settings page for the player. Why are there two?
Thanks again.
Hello magentawave,
please upgrade FV Player to version 6.0.4.14 and you will be able to use the new feature. The announcement post on our blog will come soon.
1) the time depends on the video playback.
2) if you pause the video, the ad won’t appear until it reaches that time. 15 minutes would be far too long though. This feature is more useful for the overlay ads like on YouTube when it appears after 10 seconds of the video or so. If you want to make it appear at the end of the video, then you can use the popup feature.
3) New version of FV Player works well with Optimize Press 2: https://foliovision.com/2014/04/flowplayer-fixes-optimizepress
4) Answered here: https://foliovision.com/support/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/troubleshooting/why-do-2-settings-for-fv-player-appear-in-wordpress-settings
Thanks,
Martin
