    Hi,

    This is diving me crazy!

    • I have set up my Amazons3 bucket
    • I have set up my RTMP cloudfront distribution.
    • I have uploaded my MP3’s.
    • I have created a user and registered the Access Key ID with my plugin.
    • I have pasted my pem file into the plugin and it indicates that the key appears to be valid.
    • I have selected +rtmp and added the src url in this format rtmp://xxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/cfx/st/song.mp3 and then added the server path in this format: rtmp://xxxxxxxxxxxxx.cloudfront.net/cfx/st/
    • I have set the path as the file name since it abides in the root directory of the bucket.
    • I have created the short code and it displays the audio player when I test it, but when I click on the player…NOTHING :(

Please help. I have spent almost 2 weeks now searching the internet for a way to stream MP3’s via rtmp

    Thanks

    Hello Jodi,

our CloudFront feature was not designed with audio in mind.

We will talk about this in our team – perhaps we could add at least a basic support for audio.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Jodi,

supporting CloudFront for audio files is one thing, but serving it over RTMP is another. I found no proof that this should work at a glance.

Could you please post the articles which you used so far?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

There are mixed reports. JW Player claims RTMP .mp3 works (making the protocol look very simple) while Wowza suggests mp3 doesn’t stream via RTMP.

Amazon themselves suggest it is possible. Here’s a very old guide for Cloudfront RMTP which also suggests it’s possible to broadcast .mp3 with RTMP.

Making the web work for you, Alec
