Can I simulate a Live webinar?

[Solved]

Hey guys… This is what I would like to do with your player… I got the Pro version…. Tell me if it’s possible…

    1. I want to simulate a “Live Webinar” from a pre-recorded video.

    2. When the user goes to the video link it auto plays the video….the only thing they can do is control the volume and maximize the screen… No pause button

    3. If the user refreshes the screen the video doesn’t re-start….it plays from the point that they refreshed at.

    4. It should also work this way on mobile….load the page it it starts playing.

    5. I prefer to host my videos on Vimeo Pro but can do it from Amazon

Can I do this the above with the player?

    Thanks a bunch.

    Hello Joel,

    2) We could have an option to not show timeline and not allow pausing.

    3) Continue playing where the user stopped watching the video is something we want to add. However it also means the video would continue playing where user left you website even if he comes back to your site week after.

    4) Unfortunately autoplay won’t work on mobile devices, that’s how they work.

    5) The video could be hosted anywhere on Amazon, no problem.

I’ll check with our team about when we could work on this and what features we would like to add.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Thanks Martin….

Yes # 3 is exactly what I need because I’m trying to simulate a LIVE webinar and on a live webinar it’s in real-time so if a user refreshes the video should still be going and not start over.

Wow that would be awesome if your team would be willing to do that. How serious do you think they would be in doing this?

So you know I have a newsletter of over 100,000 readers who are all interested in webinars and these features I mention…if you added them I would mail out to my whole list and tell them about your plugin because I know others would want to use it as an automated webinar solution.

    Thank you,

    Joel

    Hi Joel,

We’d love to reach your audience. We have a referral program for all buyers with a 20% commission for all referrals so your solid recommendation could work well for both of us.

Martin’s point is a good one: if the user closes the browser and returns two hours or two days later, the webinar will pick up in the same place where the user left last time which does not seem live.

I guess once a visitor has opened the webinar there should be a timer attached to his IP (this could cause problems in venues where you have 500 people at a seminar and you send them to a live webinar) which times out and at that point. this visitor wouldn’t be able to open or close the webinar at all.

Vimeo Pro is no problem. We may be able to come up with a solution for mobiles (iOS and/or Android). Keep in mind mobile video playback is a moving target so perfect coverage with this kind of trick feature across all versions is unlikely but we’ll do our best to make it work.

Making the web work for you, Alec
