WPML compatibility bug

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Bug Reports › WPML compatibility bug

  • Online 5 years, 8 months ago

    Hi all,

We are using WPML language tool on our wordpress-based site. There was an update yesterday which caused several bugs on our website, including url-related problems (several links did not appear on the second language) after the updates.
After turning all the plugins on and off, we realised that WPML and FV Player together cause the problem at the second language’s translations slugs.

FV Player was operating well with these versions:
    WPML Multilingual CMS
    Version 4.2.7.1
    WPML String Translations
    Version 2.10.5.1
    WPML Translation Management
    Version 2.8.6.2

Now, it’s not comaptible with these:
    WPML Multilingual CMS
    Version 4.2.8.
    WPML String Translations
    Version 2.10.6.
    WPML Translation Management
    Version 2.8.7.

Can you please inform me if your know of this bug and if there are any updates to be expected?
Now, we can’t use FV player properly.

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

You’re the first who contacted us about this issue.

I’ll do some testing and forward this issue to our development team. We’ll get in touch with you probably tomorrow with more information about the issue.

Thanks for letting us know about the issue.

I would also recommend to contact WPML Multilingual CMS developers.

I suggest they’ll have more information about what they changed in the newest version of their plugin that could possibly cause these issues.

    Thanks for using our player,
    Juraj

    Hi Peter,

Unfortunately, those changelogs are not detailed enough and I can’t find anything in them that could potentially cause the compatibility issue that you’re experiencing.

    Thanks for understanding,
    Juraj

    Hi Juraj,

    Maybe these ones can help?
    https://wpml.org/version/wpml-4-2-8/
    https://wpml.org/version/string-translation-2-10-6/
    https://wpml.org/version/translation-management-2-8-7/

    Kind regards,
    Peter

    Hello Peter,

you said that several links did not appear on the second language – do you mean these links to different languages now give you a 404 error?

Please try to visit Settings -> Permalinks. Doing that will regenerate the WordPress rewrite rules. Perhaps it will fix your issue.

FV Player does add some rewrite rules for the iframe embeds, but there was no change in that part of a long time, so I don’t see how the new version of your plugin could cause this.

Are you getting the same issue with just FV Player active when you disable FV Player Pro?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

Thanks for the advise, my colleagues have already tried Permalinks, with no success.
We get the issue only when FV Player is active and WPML runs under the latest versions.

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hello Peter,

please also answer the other questions I posted previously:

    1) you said that several links did not appear on the second language – do you mean these links to different languages now give you a 404 error?

    2) Are you getting the same issue with just FV Player active when you disable FV Player Pro?

    And also:

    3) Please install these two plugins:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/debug-bar/
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/fg-debug-bar-rewrite-rules/#description

And see if the “Rewrite Rules” reported in that debug bar change when you disable FV Player.

    Thanks,
    Martin
