category name still in URL

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Top Level Categories › Requests and Feedback › category name still in URL

  • Tomas 10 years, 5 months ago

    Hello Martin,

I have downloaded the FV Top Level category plugin to my WP 4.0.1.
My expectation was, that I will be able to delete the category name in the URL for individual pages.
But somehow it does not work.
For individual pages I always get this URL structure: ‘www.domain/category/page’. The WP gives me only the opportunity to edit the page name, but not to edit or delete the category name in the URL.

In Settings-Permalinks I checked the Custom Structure and put /%category%/ in the empty field.
Than in Settings-FV Top Level Categories I have tried all possible options.
None of them seem to lead to skipping the category name in the URL.

I tried to find our in you support forum, but did not find an instruction what should be done.
Thus, sorry for bothering you with such a stupid question, but could you pls advise me, what to do?

    Thank you
    Greetings from Prague
    Tomas

    Hello Tomas,

FV Top Level Categories allows you to get rid of the category prefix as described in the “What id does?” section here: https://foliovision.com/wordpress/plugins/fv-top-level-categories

The advanced settings help in case that you have a multi-level category structure where posts end up with URLs like for example: /computers/windows/64-bit/post-name and you want it to show up as /computers/windows/post-name However it won’t allow you to get rid of the /computers part of the URL as that’s the parent category of the “windows” category.

    Thanks,
    Martin
