Good morning. We installed VAST correctly installed and activated the license. We insert this code inside the video https://syndication.realsrv.com/splash.php?idzone=3865518 under the heading VAST URL but does not access anything.
Do we have to configure the Default Ad Tags from the VAST configuration and if so how? Whereas our supplier is exoclick.com.
and that we put a different advertisement on the video?
Thanks

Hello, can you please give me an answer because I have the site stopped and it would be urgent. I also followed this guide https://foliovision.com/player/ads/using-exoclick-ads but getting a nice gray square with no buttons and nothing. I’d like to understand where I’m wrong. To understand if I enter the code https://syndication.realsrv.com/splash.php?idzone=3866614 provided by the zone section of Exoclick in the FV player, do I also have to fill in the vast url page in vast settings or not? Do I need to set the EXOCLICK ads pro parameters in FV player settings or not? I need an answer to all these questions please. Thanks
Hello Eleonora,
Sorry for late reply. We were offline during weekend.
Regarding your first question, there aren’t any special settings that need to be configured for FV Player. Just make sure that the VAST wrapper is enabled and player type is set to “Another VAST-Compatible Player” option.
I’ve done more testing today and found an error. It looks like both ads provided by ExoClick (your and our test one) experience similar issues. Player occasionally loads them and they work fine but most of the time player gets empty VAST response and automatically skips the ad. I’ve sent report to our development team. We’ll keep you posted about it.
I was confused because when I tried testing your ad with our VAST tester on Friday, it worked right away without any issues.
Sorry for inconvenience.
Thanks,
JurajHi. I asked exoclick for a test link and they provided me with the following: https://syndication.exdynsrv.com/splash.php?idzone=2916384 using it on the VAST field of FV player it worked once after enough. I noticed that if on the VAST setting I saw the Change referrer function I see the beginning of the visdeo as a static image without the skip button.
Hello Enrico,
Thanks for confirming.
We have inspected the website and it looks like the VAST code has been placed on a “div”. Normally VAST ads are placed in the script settings of the player instead of the div, which is why it might be preventing you from showin this ad.
Can you please show us how Foliovision expects you to add this VAST code? Do you know if this player has any sample links that we can compare with your website?
Note that we have our own player called Fluidplayer which is free and is compatible with WordPress as well. This would allow you to deliver our in-stream ad zones. See here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/fluid-player/
We will be at your disposal to continue assisting you.
Best regards,
This is what exoclick finds
Hello Eleonora,
I tested https://syndication.exdynsrv.com/splash.php?idzone=2916384 on our VAST testing tool https://foliovision.com/player/vast/tester and it played an ad every single time.
I didn’t get any ad when using https://syndication.realsrv.com/splash.php?idzone=3865518 but it might be because I’m testing on our domain. Juraj was mentioning an issue with “empty VAST response” which is exactly that.
There is no need to configure the default ad as seen in https://foliovision.com/player/vast/how-to-use-vast#default-ad-tags
You can set up VAST ad to play on on certain videos in the VAST tab of FV Player editor. The screenshot here is old, but it gives you the idea: https://foliovision.com/player/vast/how-to-use-vast#ads-for-individual-videos
If supports wonders why the VAST URL is not in a script tag but in a DIV element, then that’s normal if you haven’t set the ad in FV Player VAST settings.
Please enable wp-admin Settings -> FV Player VAST -> Debug and send us a link to the page where we can see the issue.
You might also be getting no ads if you are not getting enough video plays or if there are not enough ads in the ad inventory, but you have to ask Exoclick support about that.
Thanks,
MartinHello Eleonora,
you can check our VAST autoplay demo here: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/vast-ad-with-autoplay
To simulate the experience of a first-time visitor on your website you should be using the guest mode of Google Chrome. Google Chrome remembers if you interacted with videos on a website before and will allow autoplay in such case (even in incognito window). So that guest mode is really useful for testing of autoplay issues.
The skip button is added by the ad unit itself. It must include the proper tag to allow ad skipping. Technically it would be possible to show the skip button regardless of that, but then you might get into a conflict with your ad network.
Thanks,
Martin
