Cache directory not writeable

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Gravatar Cache › Troubleshooting › Cache directory not writeable

  • Dan CodeMonkey 7 years, 10 months ago

Using WordPress 4.5.3 and FV Gravatar Cache 0.4.1

When I activate the plugin, it tells me that the cache directory is not writeable. I’ve changed the permissions on the cache directory (wp-content/uploads/fv-gravatar-cache/) to 777 with the same error showing up. No gravatar images are getting cached into the new default directory, and the debug log won’t print either as it’s in the same cache directory (why?) that is apparently unwriteable despite the fact that it has 777 permissions.

The last version of FV Gravatar Cache that worked on my site was 0.3.6.

On a separate not, the colored box overlaying the bottom-left corner of this comment box that is filled with the text (

    `

      1. ) is really annoying as I can't see anything that I'm typing past the 4th or 5th line.

    Hi Dan,

please try to re-save your Settings->Discussions screen and then FV Gravatar Cache settings.

You can also test if your upload work correctly in Media->Add New. When the new item is uploaded, what’s path displayed when you click on it?

777 permissions is not necessary, 755 is enough with proper set-up user and group ownership of that folder.

If none of steps above work you can send us screenshot of wp-content/uploads/ folder opened in your FTP client.

We will be also happy to get the issue fixed right on your website if you order our Pro support: http://foliovision.com/pro-support

    Thanks,
    Richard

There was a plugin update available that said it “Fixed PHP Notices”, but it obviously did more than that because this is working just fine now.

    Thanks.

    Dan
