FV Player Pro lets you play encrypted HLS streams which is the most poweful video download protection technique.
What FV Player Pro doesn’t support are the signed video links for the HLS streams. Even though it’s a much weaker protection than encrypting the video, it’s still worth while and we will add it into our plugin as well.
The reason why it’s not supported is actually the lack of support for this feature in the Amazon Web Services (AWS). These HLS m3u8 playlist files are static and there is no way you can append the signature to the URL there. And it doesn’t matter if you use the new MediaConvert or the old Elastic Transcoder.
The solution is to use cookie based signing of the requests. The AWS CloudFront does support that, so we need to add support for it into FV Player Pro as it will make these HLS videos even harder to download.
Therefore, it looks like the setup instructions will be a bit challenging. Either you have to setup your custom domain for the CloudFront distribution, or you have to upload that script and enter its URL in to the plugin settings.
