Restrict Content Pro
Restrict Content Pro is a light-weight and simple, yet really powerful plugin great for any kind of membership site. While it provides you with many features, it also greets you with notes to guide you through the process of setting it up. Besides being accommodated for the less experienced users, it is developer friendly too.
It seamlessly integrates into your WordPress interface and works great with most WordPress plugins. Apart from that, RCP supports a large list of payment gateways. You have the possibility to integrate it with FV Player and the FV Player Pay Per View paid add-on. We provide an exhaustive guide on setting up this popular plugin and integrating it with FV Player.
MemberPress
This feature-rich and easy to use membership plugin, by large regarded as the best and most popular, is fully compatible with FV Player. Apart from including all the standard features, there are also some unique selling points, such as the ability to create “Membership Groups” within the individual membership levels or advanced content dripping. Apart from being highly compatible, it also boasts some integrations with major email marketing services, payment gateways and learning management systems.
Paid Membership Pro
This plugin is highly flexible with several free add-ons and over 60 premium add-ons. And what they do not offer, you can tweak yourself. However, the premium plan required to unlock all the interesting features is quite pricy. Nonetheless, even with the free version of this plugin, you are still getting the essentials any membership site needs.
WooCommerce Memberships
This membership plugin is an add-on for the popular WooCommerce eCommerce plugin. Understandably, this plugin is meant for sellers, thus while viable, it is not the best solution for providing courses.
With this plugin, WooCommerce lets you use many of its features for payments, including coupons, discounting or upsell. For some features of this plugin, you will have to download additional extensions, for example WooCommerce Subscriptions to be able to accept recurring payments.
If you want to provide pay per view videos too, you will like our FV Player Pay Per View for WooCommerce add-on.
LearnDash
While this is a Learning Management system and not a membership plugin, it is very popular with users looking to provide online lessons, as it can fully substitute a membership plugin. However, this plugin is aimed more at sellers of paid courses and is quite expensive itself.
Being an LMS, this plugin offers advanced tools helping you manage learning material better than regular membership plugins, while it also includes standard membership features such as drip content, which allows you to roll out content to users gradually, for example upon completing a level.
This plugin is compatible with many plugins, including FV Player. You might consider looking into the possibility of substituting your membership plugin for an LMS. FV Player works great with most leading LMS plugins.
s2Member
A popular free membership plugin which has been around for quite a while now. This membership plugin is powerful and offers a wide array of features even in the free version. However, it is not beginner-friendly at all, but might be worth it after all.
Free version is restricted mainly in the amount of memberships level. Most plugins offer a larger, if not unlimited, number of membership levels with free plans. s2Member limits it to only 4. However, you can enjoy the full functionality of this plugin for just a smaller one-time payment.
aMember
This is another plugin that has been around for nearly two decades and still remains popular. However, it is not technically a WordPress plugin, but a self-hosted PHP script that allows integration with WordPress.
It is highly customizable and quite powerful, with loads of payment options. Just as with s2Member, the interface looks a bit dated and is not beginner-friendly. Because of its uncommon nature, aMember has shown to have compatibility issues with some WordPress plugins, but we are not aware of any issues with FV Player.
MemberMouse
Unlike the complicated and outdated interfaces of aMember and s2Member, MemberMouse plugin has been made with the less tech-savvy users in mind as its highest priority. It is very easy to use and takes just a few minutes to set up with everything built in from the start. This explains its popularity.
However, it is not GPL licensed, therefore does not allow any changes to the code. Another fallback of this plugin is that it is paid by monthly subscription based on the number of members you have, making this plugin easily the most expensive one on this list. This plugin makes memberships easier than any other, but it is worth considering, whether the capabilities of this plugin are worth the price.
WP-Members
Just like s2Members, the free version of this plugin is very restricted, to the point of being nearly useless. Still, the paid version is very affordable and simple. It offers a great number of add-ons and is highly customizable. It allows for custom registration and profile fields.
This list is non-conclusive and aims at helping you make a choice. It contains only the most popular solutions that are fully compatible with FV Player. However, there are many other choices for membership solutions, including many LMS plugins with membership options.
Generally, there should be no issues with any plugin utilizing WordPress User Roles. At the time of writing, the only membership plugin with incompatibility issues with FV Player is iThemes Exchange Membership Add-on. Last time we checked, iThemes had a track record of improperly working code in several of their plugins.
