7 years ago in reply to: force download of videos
I’m stuck on Firefox 56 (that’s another issue) 64 bit running on Windows 10. I don’t have IE installed (so tested with Edge). The videos are stored on Amazon S3. These are stock videos which I would like to be downloadable.
Anyway, I’ve done more research & testing on this, and it’s far more tricky than I suspected.
With my Firefox, even changing the setting to “ask” for mp4 type file, doesn’t work. However, changing the content-disposition of the file and/or using the download attribute on the link seem to help.
Apparently, forcing download is not possible at all on Chrome (without writing some special PHP/Javascript as a workaround – not for me). Opera 50 seems to display the same behaviour as Chrome.
So much for that idea.
Without opening a new thread, the issue I face now is incorporating the download button into a playlist and/or the lightbox popup (which I notice has been raised in other posts before).
I’m not making much progress on this download thing,..I should point out that the error message points to WordPress’s ca-bundle.crt as being the problem (not your certificate). I’ve experienced the same problem with another plugin. A search of the forums online showed that others also have had problems with this file, but I could not find a satisfactory solution from any of these sources. I still don’t know why the error occurred (but my workaround is working).
I do not have any issues with domain mapping.
Thanks

I’ve gotten the licence installed by temporarily turning off ssl checking.
My host’s response was that they made a few changes on their side, but suggested that if that if the problem persists I contact the plugin developer.I think I have found the reason for the issue (though I am not sure exactly when it started to rear its head ie which WordPress upgrade, etc) Core control reports the following ( I have xxx’ed out info which may be sensitive):

Request Time 2016-07-20 18:31:05 -0I’ve now installed the plugin on a 5th site to use up all my licences and with the same problem – that’s a success rate of 3 out of 5. I’ve taken to the contact form, because I do not wish to put my site information on a public forum.
As stated in my other thread, I have the same issue on a stand-along site. I’ve double-checked the domain names. I’ve copied and pasted the licence key into the appropriate box (it works on three other sites I have), and I don’t know why it refuses to accept the key. Pleas check your log files if your have such. It may shed some light on the issue. I hope we can resolve this soonest.
I should add that it is domain-mapped network and that the subsite referred to has its own domain name.
