Statistics do not appear in Google Analytics.

[Solved]

Hello, we have FV Player Pro + VAST, installed on wordpress.com, with the Google Analytics ID (verified), but there are no video event values. Not even from VAST.

The player works correctly, VAST too, because the advertisements provided by the VAST URL appear, we just don’t have any statistics.

We have the ID in Jetpack and an advertising plugin and these values are displayed. We have already checked all the steps in your instructions, but no values appear in Analytics. Can you help us?

    Hi mktgidital,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

Do you mean that the issue affects only the video examples you’ve provided to us or video events statistics in general, please?

Regarding Google Analytics, did you implement the older Universal Analytics (which is covered in our guides for FV Player and VAST) or the latest Google Analytics 4?

We currently support only the older UA model, which seems to be more straightforward for tracking Video Events. The implementation of Google Analytics 4 with FV Player is under process, and once it is finished we will publish more information about it but for now, we recommend using the older model.

    Thanks,
    Chiara

Hello Chiara, we can not see any statistics of the player. None of the video events statistics in general.

We use Universal Analytics. And it is correctly inserted in the plugin.

What more information can we provide?

    Thanks.

    Hello mktdigital,

we switched from using Google Analytics ga.js to analytics.js in FV Player 7.4.38.727 in January.

Does it work if you disable Google Analytics in JetPack? I see it’s using ga.js.

Your website uses some JavaScript minification (appears to be a WordPress.com thing,), but the tracking work if you disable that for a moment? You can check the realtime stats in Google Analytics when you play a video.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hello Martin, yes you are right.
We deactivated the jetpack module and it already works.
But we tried to use the new Global Site Tag method (gtag.js) and it didn’t work. We switched to analytics.js and everything is ok.
I suggest that in the future this method (gtag.js) can be used with your plugin, because it will have to be adopted, as I understand it.

    So, this problem is solved.

    Thanks.
    Greetings to all your team.

    Hello mktdigital,

for now I at least fixed it to not fail is ga.js is already loaded. So we support ga.js and analytics.js now.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello mktdigital,

in cast the Google gtag.js is pretty easy, so the support for that was added as well, it will be available in the next release, or you can reinstall from https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/master.zip

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello mktdigital,

we have added tracking for the new Google Analytics 4 model.

In order to get it, please, reinstall a new version of FV Player from this link: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/refs/heads/3808609681-ga4.zip

To do that, you will have to first deactivate and delete the current FV Player plugin you are using. WordPress will warn you that you might loose settings and data, but it’s not the case with our plugin, no settings now videos will be lost. Or you can just replace the plugin files via FTP.

We do not have a guide regarding the new model as of yet, but will have one in the coming days. The events are nearly the same as for the Universal Analytics.

You can find the video events in Life cycle -> Engagement -> Events

    Thanks,
    Maria
