    Hi guys,

    I love the plugin. Always have been a happy user of the free one and decided to upgrade to pro. However, when I’d like to skip to a specific chapter, the video starts at the beginning again (like it doesn’t buffer or something).

    This does not happen in every session, but I’ve seen it myself and hear customers about it. What could this be related to?

    Also, how can I get chapters to display beneath the video? And can I link to chapters directly?

    Thank you for reaching out to us!

    This truly is an odd behavior. We’ve run some simple tests and it is not a global bug. Which means that this is either an issue of your browser or your website environment.

    Since you’ve had the same reports from your users, it is most likely the environment of your website. Meaning, either the theme or a plugin conflict. Could you try testing a different theme (the theme preview mode should suffice)?
    Let us know, if that solves the issue. If it doesn’t, you can continue by trying to disable installed plugins one by one to pinpoint the one that may be causing the issue and then letting us know about the plugin.

    Hello Wesley,

    before you try to troubleshoot a plugin or theme conflict, please let us know what video type you are using, if you use the video position saving and the custom start time for the videos.

    Does it happen to logged in users only? If not, please provide a test page.

    Hi Martin,

    Mp4, yes we save vid. position, no custom start time.

    And yes, it does not seem to happen when in incognito mode (not logged in).

    You know what’s going on?

    Hello Wesley,

    This means that you have an extension installed in your browser which creates these issues when in your typical browser environment. You can also try a different browser just to make sure.

    What this means for you is that you can go down the list of your browser extensions and disabling them, until you find the one that creates the issue. Please, let us know which extension causes the issue and how important it is for you to have this extension installed.

    Hello Wesley,

    I see now that I’ve forgotten to answer one of your initial questions.

    Yes, the chapter list can be added below the player, as you can see in our guide: https://foliovision.com/player/features/accessibility/vtt-chapters However, this is an FV Player Pro feature. The chapter links are then created automatically.

    If you want to create links pointing to exact chapters for other uses outside of the chapter list, you can do so by using the Video Links feature: https://foliovision.com/player/features/sharing/creating-video-links

    Hi Maria,

    Thanks for answering the additional questions, very happy with it. I got the chapters below the video working.

    Then only my ‘video restarting completely when skipping in timeline’ issue remains. Hopefully you guys got a solution for it. Seems like Martin had heard of the problem before.

    Hello Wesley,

    we were trying to reproduce the issue – log in, enable position saving and see if the chapter links work. We found no issues. We tested on macOS 11.6.1 with Safari, Firefox and Chrome (Brave).

    Please let us know what browser you use and provide a test page.

    Hi Martin,

    I tried to check it out for a couple of weeks, but I get a lot of complaints from customers not being able to skip through the video.

    What they all have in common is that they are not logged in. Being logged in fixes the issue, but they should also be able to skip when they are not logged in. How come this happens?

    The option “Disable local storage” is turned off.

    Hello Wesley,

    are you using anything to optimize the JavaScript on your website? I wonder if something like Cloudflare Rocket Loader could cause an issue like this.

    If not, then please post a link to a test page where we can see the issue and what browser we should use on what operating system.
