CC Captions not showing

[Solved]

    I uploaded a .vtt caption file to Amazon s3 (same bucket as the video) and attached it to the relevant video via FV Player on our WordPress website.
    When I play the video, CC appears in the bottom right corner of the player, but when I select “English” no captions appear.
    The subtitles checkbox is checked in Settings.

    Wordpress version, themes, plugins etc are all latest versions and I emptied the “Auto Optimize” cache but it made no difference.

    Here’s a bit of the text

    WEBVTT
    Kind: captions

    00:00:03.680 --> 00:00:06.360
    <font color="rgba(255,255,255,255)">People ask me, "What are the most important rules</font>

    00:00:06.360 --> 00:00:07.520
    <font color="rgba(255,255,255,255)">when you're training a sheep dog?"</font>

    00:00:19.760 --> 00:00:23.960
    <font color="rgba(255,255,255,255)">these are just a few, and they're all very important.</font>

    Can you help please?
    (PS – We LOVE FV Player)!

    I should have mentioned that we’re using the Beta version of FV Player Pro (Quality Switching fix for playlists) rather than the release version.

    Since my post, I stripped out all the .vtt file’s colour formatting in case that was this issue, but it made no difference.

    FIXED!
    Trawling the internet, I read that .vtt files have to be stored on the same domain as the player, so putting the file on Amazon s3 was the mistake.

    I uploaded the .vtt to our WordPress site, and it now plays fine.

    Hi Gillian,

    sorry for the late response. We are very happy you found the solution for your problem. As you said. It was caused by hosting the .vtt files on different domain than the player, because .vtt files are subject to cross-domain security restrictions and that’s the reason why they won’t load automatically.

    Thanks,
    Juraj
