Looping Idea

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Requests and Feedback › Looping Idea

    Hi guys,

    I have an idea for creating a loop but I don’t know if it’s possible or not. We’ll see.

    I am now using the VTT chapters to create links underneath the video for sections of longer videos. Would it be possible to have some sort of button to loop these VTT sections? I think that would be an incredible function to enhance user experience for my videos.

    Let me know what you think.

    Thanks!

    John

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello John,

    we worked on this feature and got the display part mostly finished. We will put up a working demo soon.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello John,

    please check the demo here: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/user-ab-loop (the 2nd video)

    We released this feature in latest FV Player Pro – 0.6.16, so you can use it on your website as well.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Great! How do I enable the AB loop for each chapter?

    Martin 9 years ago

    Hello John,

    the shortcode on that demo page goes like this:

    [fvplayer src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vpg9yizPP_g" chapters="/images/2015/01/chapters.vtt" ab="true"]

    So you need to include both ab=”true” and chapters=”….”. Then the “AB” letters should show up for each chapter.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

    I do have that but I still don’t see it. I updated to the 0.6.16 but that was also the current version I had installed.

    Johnwt 9 years ago

    Ok I got it to work. Do you think there is anyway to arrange them where there is no more than 5 at a time? Maybe 5 chapters and then 5 more next to them instead of all in a row?

    Hello John,

    could you please let us know why it was not working for you? Was that just a matter of reloading the page a couple of times? In that case check that your cleared any cache related to any CDN or caching plugin. You can also check if the fv_player_pro.min.js script appears with version number in the URL like …//cdn.foliovision.com/fv_player_pro.min.js?ver=0.6.16

    Regarding your styling question – I’ll ask our designer Viktor to give you a hint about how to accomplish this.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    I think the cache didn’t completely clear so all is good now.

    Thanks!

    One question. Does the loop start and end depending on the time stamp of the Chapter or the time between 2 chapters? I tried to set the length of the chapter and have it loop but it seems like it automatically loops the time between the start of the first chapter and the start of the next chapter.

    Hello John,

    since this is an automatically generated list, there are not many options you can try. If you don’t mind having them in unordered, then giving each LI float:left and width: 50% would make it work. If you want to have the items go in the first column and after one half following in the second one, then it’s probably just CSS3 column-count property.
    The downside is it only makes sense to use it on shorter lists and browser support is not really the best one.

    UL LI {
        -moz-column-count: 2;
        -moz-column-gap: 20px;
        -webkit-column-count: 2;
        -webkit-column-gap: 20px;
        column-count: 2;
        column-gap: 20px;
    }

    or see it in action here JSfiddle http://jsfiddle.net/qUAT6/1356/

    Thanks
    vk

    Hello John,

    you are right, it automatically loops to the next chapter rather than to the end of it. We will improve this.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello John

    FV Player Pro 0.6.17 fixes the chapter end time issue. Please let us know if you notice anything weird.

    Thanks,
    Martin
