FB Mass Import to DB (API Custom Endpoint?)

    Hello,

I am not able to mass import videos using the FV Player Import function on the FV Player admin page. Does this exist or can it be requested as a feature?

    Also,

If I wanted to CRUD an FV Player using the WordPress REST API, how would I register a custom endpoint (specifically for FV Player tables, not generally)?

    Hello Leho,

our plan is to allow that sort of mass importing. Currently you can only paste one player JSON export as you noted.

I see REST API could be useful, but it’s not planned at this point. I guess just making it work with importing would be a big help. What exactly is your goal with REST API here?

    Thanks,
    Martin

Rest API Goal: Use Zapier to Push New Video into FV Player DB after Uploading to Vimeo automatically.

    Hello Leho,

you can keep using the [fvplayer src="..."] kind of shortcode. Over time there might be some functionality which might work only for the database shortcode though. And we might add a feature to convert at least these simple shortcodes to FV Player database entries.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hello, is there already an update about mass importing Playlists via Zapier, Webhooks or other platforms?

    Hello Miriam,

Do you know enough about Zapier and WordPress REST API to be able to create WordPress posts with it?

It seems to me that would be the more difficult part here and adding FV Player into it shouldn’t be very hard.

Just creating FV Player will not be enough, as it still needs to be posted on the website into a post (or other post type).

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hello Martin, zapier would actually be only an intermediate tool and the automator in WordPress I am already using to create posts.

It can create custom posts, and even update custom fields.

    I am using this one:

What I am missing is the connection between fvplayer and the WordPress automator

    Hello Miriam,

So your data from Zapier is procesed by Uncanny Automator.

Seems like they have some nice API to let you create your own module where you could map the data fields to FV Player: https://developer.automatorplugin.com/adding-a-custom-action-to-uncanny-automator/

The code to create a FV Player with PHP code can be found here: https://foliovision.com/player/developers/player-database#php -> Inserting a new player instance.

Based on the resulting $player_id you could then insert your own [fvplayer id="..."] shortcode into your post.

    Thanks,
    Martin
