Video Encoding for HTML 5

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Video Encoding for HTML 5

  • wete12 7 years, 1 month ago

    Hi, I tried to follow all the steps of https://foliovision.com/player/securing-your-video/rtmp-streams but I can not do the transmission for mobile and tablet. I transmit from obs with a local RTMP server

    How can I configure it well?

    EJ:
    [fvplayer src="https://www.My video" (page where the video publication is located)
    rtmp="rtmp://my /" rtmp_path="" live="true" splash="9343sampleea05g" width="1366" height="614"]

    Hi Wete!

    RTMP stream will not work on mobile or tablet as they do not support flash. We recommend that you also include an mp4 version of the video as an alternative source, to make sure it plays on multiple devices. Unfortunately as devices and technology are so diverse and use different protocols/ standards it almost always necessary to provide multiple formats. You can have a look on basic formats used in general for encoding of a video

    We primarily record using IVS for a live stream, then move that to a cloudfront bucket for PPV after the event. Are we better off serving mp4 instead? We’re trying to target a very wide range of devices from, TVs, computers, and mobile.

    Hello Robert,

    Thank you for reaching out to us!

    At this point in time, this shouldn’t cause any issues. Your choice of serving depends on many factors, but for most of them IVS is a better choice. For example, if security is one of them, then IVS is definitely a better choice than mp4.

    Have you experienced or were told about any issues with playback on any devices, or are you just making sure?

    Thanks,
    Maria
