Make my video most secure

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Make my video most secure

  • Mustafa 2 years ago

Hi , i have lms site and i viewing paid videos , i had found the great way to make my videos are encrypted (with coconut add-on and fv player pro) to prevent illegal downloading and with drm text that was awesome

But my question is , what can i do also ? Is there any recommendations? Like which the options i must turn on or off , what is the next step to ensure that my videos is really secured

Another things , is there way to enable domain security in my videos to make them non viewable in any place if any one know the embedding code or the url except my site?

    Thank you

    Helo Mustafa,

We apologize for the late reply.

As you’re using FV Player Coconut with the Pro version of our player, if you’re utilizing encryption, then you’re getting the best possible video protection we offer.

For example, there is an additional protection called signed URLs. These create a special time-sensitive signature that are tied to user ID. Meaning, only the user that originally accessed the video will be able to play it. The link will not work for anyone else or on other domains.

This protection has to be set up manually for some options, such as AWS, or if you’re just using BunnyCDN. FV Player Coconut with the Pro version does this automatically. You can learn more here: https://foliovision.com/player/video-security/video-protection-methods/signed-urls-hls-protection

Long story short, if you’re using encryption (not only encoding) with Coconut and use the Pro version of FV Player, all the most advanced security methods are bundled into it and you don’t need to do anything extra.

Let me know, if you have any other questions.

Making the web work for you,
    Maria

What about the apple Fairplay and other features like it ? Can i add it in coconut streaming

    Mustafa 2 years ago

So if i using fv coconut , the signed URLs feature it will be enabled automatically and i will not to do thing to ensure if it enabled

    Martin 2 years ago

    Hello Mustafa,

the advantage of Apple Fairplay is that it can prevent screen capturing. But it only works in the Safari browser on Mac and iOS.

So you would need something else for Android and Windows users. On Windows you would have to use Microsoft Playready which would only play in Microsoft Edge.

On Android you would have to use a native mobile app with Widevine protection.

The reason for this complexity is that on each operating system only the standard web browser supports all the hardware DRM. And on Android none of the browsers support that so it would have to be mobile app only.

To support these 3 protocols we would have to use a DRM provider such as EzDRM or BuyDRM which also adds to the monthly cost.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hi , how much will cost if i want to use of the three protocols , could you give me more details please

    Mustafa 2 years ago

And how can I integrate these protocols in coconut and fv player pro

    Martin 2 years ago

    Hello Mustafa,

our integration with BuyDRM or EzDRM video protection providers can be purchased here: https://foliovision.com/downloads/widevine-fairplay-support

    Thanks,
    Martin

It’s just 500 $ for these protocols and then i will not pay monthly subscription or not included ?

If thera is extra monthly fees can you give me more details please

    Martin 2 years ago

    Hello Mustafa,

the monthly fees by the DRM provider still apply. Please check the EzDRM monthly pricing here: https://www.ezdrm.com/service-pricing

You basically need the “Universal Complete” package to really support all the web browsers.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Thank you for responding, another question

What the type of encryption of coconut? Dose it support AES-256 encryption?

    Martin 2 years ago

    Hello Mustafa,

The HLS encryption supported by Coconut is AES-128.

While AES-256 is a more powerful encryption, the video protection is only as strong as the weakest component. Which is the decryption key distribution mechanism. FV Player Pro already improves that over the standard encrypted HLS.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    thanks , i have question

my videos are 2k .. can i encode this quality by coconat? because i see just 1080 and 4k

2K is effectively 1080p. I recommend you experiment a bit with Coconut yourself.
