How to have FV Play HD Videos and Not Show PiP button?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › How to have FV Play HD Videos and Not Show PiP button?

  • dplum 5 years, 4 months ago

I’ve started using FV to test the playback of my Vimeo Videos.

The setup is done and I’m able to playback videos.

However, for whatever reason the videos are being played back in SD mode, rather than HD — How can this be fixed?

Futher, I’m wanting to eliminate the SD video Sizes and PiP button that appears during playback — How can that be done?

Please see the attached image of what I’m referring to.

    Hello dplum,

    Thanks for reaching to us!

Regarding the pip button, which browser are you using? Thanks!

We’re sorry but none of those advanced feature which you’re asking for are part of the free version of FV Player. You can personalise all these settings with FV Player Pro.

With FV Player Pro you can force HD playback on videos. disable/enable numerous buttons or elements or set up your video quality options with quality switching options.

If you’re interest in more info about FV Player don’t hesitate to ask!

OK I’ve renewed my PRO License.

The PiP button shows up in FireFox, but not Chrome. Can it be Disabled?

Also, what setting do I use to ensure HD is used?

BTW, Vimeo is the host if that makes a difference.

    Hello dplum,

    Thanks for renewing the license!

You can use the “Force HD streaming” option. You can find it under Sitewide FV Player defaults section.

And the PiP button is probably part of your browser features. You should be able to turn it off in your browser settings.

Let us know if this helped you!

    Thanks for using our player,
    Juraj

Please see the attached image. I’ve installed the latest PRO plugin and I’ve set “Forcce HD” but my Vimeo viodeos still play in SD mode – why?

    How can this be fixed?

PS: the URL to test video is at https://test.xlresources.com/vimeo-video/

    Hello dplum,

I’ve tested it with Chrome and Safari and on both the video starts playing at 720p automatically. Perhaps you can try deleting cache before accessing the site.

    Thanks,

    Hello dplum,

we tried everything we could to get rid of that Picture In Picture button in Firefox, including disablePictureInPicture which the recommend on https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/video

But it just wouldn’t work. Perhaps Firefox needs to start supporting that disablePictureInPicture attribute first.

    Thanks,
    Martin
