FV player with RTMP live stream

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › FV player with RTMP live stream

    Hello!

I’m trying to FVplayer to setup my private rtmp server for live streaming. The server is running under ubuntu using nginx. It is working fine as I can see a test stream using VLC’s network stream feature.

Whenever I set the plugin in my site, hosted with Bluehost, first thing is that I get a Flash warning in the browsers. I set it to allow but then I get another message from the browser’s url right side stating that the plugin was blocked.

Here is the info from the settings area

    ( System Info removed )

I am at a loss and cant figure out what is going. Please help!!

    Thanks!!

    Hello yigael,

please try to open your browser developer console (here’s how https://foliovision.com/player/troubleshooting/javascript-browser-console), then try to play that video again and see if any error appears on the console.

In modern browser you have to explicitly allow Flash.

You can also check if https://foliovision.com/player/demos/cloudfront-download-protection -> “PLAYER WITH JUST THE RTMP STREAM” plays for you.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hello Martin, thanks for the reply. I checked the rtmp stream only, and I had to allow flash and it worked.

    Hi Martin,
    The console yields the following
Same-origin plugin content from https://roguebookings.com/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/flowplayer.swf?ver=7.4.33.727 must have a visible size larger than 6 x 6 pixels, or it will be blocked. Invisible content is always blocked.

    Hello yigael,

do you run into the same issue when using the default WordPress theme? I wonder if there is anything in your theme that makes the object element so small or hidden.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

I tested the player in another site that I have with the default theme and got the same problem. The console in Chrome shows

Same-origin plugin content from http://rogueservices.tech/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/flowplayer.swf?ver=7.4.34.727 must have a visible size larger than 6 x 6 pixels, or it will be blocked. Invisible content is always blocked.

I noticed something else in the console. If I go to the Network tab, I noticed that somehow the plugin is calling the site itself with the path from the rtmp,
I dont see anywhere in the console a call to the ip address of my rtmp server. And for more context, Im running an nginx server with the rtmp module, which I compiled in this guide
    https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/how-to-set-up-your-own-private-rtmp-server-using-nginx.50/

    Hello yigael,

please send a screenshot of your editor with the stream details filled in.

Please load the page with the player where the RTMP doesn’t play and run the following code on the browser console:

    JSON.stringify( flowplayer(0).conf.clip, true, 2 )

Then please copy output of that command over here or make another screenshot.

    Thanks,
    Martin

We use FVPlayer for our on-demand videos, but would like to use it for our Livestream as well, but need an RTMP URL and URL Key to tell our Livestream the fixed destination to our Watch Live Page. How can we generate that?

    Hello Rabbi Eric,

thank you for reaching out to us!

Setting up an RTMP server is up to you and it is complex enough that we cannot help you via forums.

We could help you with setting up the server, if you’d order our services via the Pro Support Incident: https://foliovision.com/downloads/pro-support

If you are using FV Player, and decide to set up the server yourself, here’s how to use the RTMP server with FV Player: https://foliovision.com/player/securing-your-video/rtmp-streams

    Thanks,
    Maria
