FV Player does not go fullscreen on IOS for video from Youtube

[Solved]

  • James 1 year, 10 months ago

    Dear Sir,

I’m considering purchasing the FV Player Pro and currently testing out your Free version. However, I’m encountering an issue: for videos from YouTube, the FV Player does not go fullscreen on iOS, even if I tried with Settings -> FV Player -> Mobile Settings -> Alternative iOS fullscreen.

As in screenshot picture (https://postimg.cc/cvY5Sb1K) , when click on fullscreen button, the player just appear the “X” button, but does not go fullscreen.

Please help to check on this and help me to fix it.

    Thanks

    Hello James,

Would you like for the video to appear as in fullscreen or would you like to actually use the iPhone standard fullscreen video player?

The problem is that the web browsers on iPhone are not allowed to use a proper fullscreen mode and a YouTube video cannot likely enter the standard video player fullscreen as it’s an iframe.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for your reply. I just want some how the video can be displayed in fullscreen on IOS, like the video in the following link:

    How can I do this?

    Thanks

    Hello James,

Since iPhone does not support the HTML5 fullscreen, we can only simulate it with CSS.

To do that we use CSS position: fixed.

However on iPhone it’s not allowed if one the website HTML elements which nests the player is using some CSS transform or z-index.

2 years ago we tried to avoid this issue by actually scanning all the parent HTML element for these properties and getting rid of them:

    • YouTube – fix fullscreen on iPhone
    • YouTube – fix fullscreen on iPhone – z-index

If you know how to debug JavaScript you can use SCRIPT_DEBUG in your wp-config.php to make sure FV Player loads scripts without minification and see what you find.

We are also happy to fix the issue for your hands on right on your website if you order our service for solving theme compatibility issues: https://foliovision.com/downloads/making-player-theme

    Thanks,
    Martin
