Setup without Wordpress

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player VAST › Troubleshooting › Setup without Wordpress

We have purchased a license for FV Player VAST but we are unsure if we have set it up correctly (without WordPress) as we are experiencing strange issues.

    The issues are:

    • The pre-roll starts to immediately play even though neither your plug-in nor the flowplayer are configured to autoplay
    • When the pre-roll has finished and the main video is started, the play button continues to cover the video. And in the top left corner of the control bar, there is yet another play button instead of the pause button. Neither of these buttons works. They video cannot be paused except by using the seek bar.
    • There is no indicator of the remaining time for pre-roll ad.

So we suspect it has to do with our setup. For testing, we use the free Flowplayer (not the Folio Player). Is this supported? Or do we need the free or the pro version of your player? If so, how can it be used without WordPress?

We’re using Javascript to configure and insert the player into a given DIV. What would be the correct order to configure the ads, configure the player and load the necessary Javascript files (flowplayer.min.js, swfobject.js, fv-player-vast.min.js)?

    Hello Roman,

    1) Do you have is_splash class on the flowplayer element?

The rest is hard to judge, could you please post some URL where we can see this?

    Thanks,
    Martin

For some reasons I cannot answer in my original topic. It says: “You cannot reply to this topic”. So I’m starting a new one.

Does the Foliovision VAST Plugin require the Foliovision Player (Free or Pro) or does it work with the standard Flowplayer as well?

If the Foliovision Player is required, is there a documentation that explains how to use it without WordPress?

    Hello Roman,

it should work perfectly fine with Flowplayer 6. Could you please send over your test URL for your website, so we can have a look?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin

Here is a link to a simple page with the mentioned problems (unwanted autoplay, play button covering video, remaining ad time not displayed):

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Martin

Do you have time to look at it? Can you provide any guidance how to properly use it with Flowplayer 6 (sequence of initialization, sequence of Javascript includes)?

    Regards
    Manuel

    Hello Roman,

sorry about the delay. I created a local copy of your HTML, put in class=”is-splash” (I said is_splash before by mistake) to the Flowplayer elements (that is #player) and that fixed the autoplay issue and also the play button issue.

Please let us know if there is anything else.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin

Thanks a lot for the support. The magic class “is-splash” solved the major issues. (Sorry for the misunderstand. I first understood that this class is a problem and needs to be removed.)

    There are two issues left:

    • Can we configure a time to skip the ad? I know it can be configured in VAST 3.0 files. But our advertising partner uses VAST 2.0 and we would like to configure it globally.
    • We don’t get any count-down for the ads (e.g. “Ad ends in 00:12”). Can this be achieved via configuration? Or can we hook into some event and implement it ourselves? (This count-down is in addition to the count-down for skippable ads.)

    Regards
    Manuel

    Hello Manuel,

we don’t provide any functionality for skipping the VAST/VPAID ads, we rely completely on the ad unit to provide this functionality. We do provide JS events, however only for VPAID engine at this point and adding a hook to skip the ad would have to be created as well.

    Thanks,
    Martin
