Wordpress Download Manager Pro Compatibility

Foliovision › Forums › Foliopress WYSIWYG › Requests and Feedback › Wordpress Download Manager Pro Compatibility

I am using the amazing Folio wysiwyg editor. Is there any way of getting WordPress Download Manager Pro (or free) to use that too? It won’t load tinymce when I have folio activated, and just presents me with BB codes instead of an editor? If I disable Folio, then the TinyMCE editor then displays (horrible editor!!).

How can I get WordPress Download Manager to honour the editor I have decided to use in WP?

    Hello Barry,

Download Manager probably includes a set of small plugins which act like new buttons in TinyMCE. Adding that into our plugin would be a bigger job.

If Download Manager works outside of posts, it would be probably easier if it would fall back to using TinyMCE when Download Manager screen is loaded.

    Thanks,
    Martin

I have studied the Download Manager screen which ‘calls up’ the tinyMCE plugin and it is pretty comprehensive. But there must be something in the code which recognises that folio is the default editor instead of the WordPress default, then it bottles out and loads the BB code bar. I think that is where something could happen, instead of loading the BB bar it would load the folio bar?

It is a great pity because folio is such a brilliant editor; best I have ever used in WordPress; and equally Download Manager is an astounding piece of software, really opens up the possibility of a multi-media library in WordPress.

It is a real pity you two guys (folio/download) can’t have a conversation about this and see if one or both of you could make the necessary changes.

I am saying this mainly because the two bits of software are likely to dominate the WordPress scene for quite a while, and yet they are incompatible with eachother?

Why not have a conversation. If people are being forced to choose one or the other in terms of WordPress functionality, that is guaranteed to reduce each of your market?

    Hi Barry,

Thank you for your kind words!

I can see that Download Manager is popular with its users. Would you be willing to support the addition of Download Manager to Foliopress WYSIWYG with a symbolic contribution of $100?

(I say symbolic as it will costs us many times that to actually add Download Manager: Martin is right making the TinyMCE buttons work with our FCK Editor core is a substantial project.)
