Hi guys
Visitors on Android smartphones aren’t able to view video’s after the VAST pre-roll is skipped or has finished. The video is expected to start automatically after the pre-roll, but instead only the thumbnail appears with a big play button in the center. The YouTube player controls appear under the FV Player controls and is unresponsive. It seems to work fine on desktop and iOS though.
All our video’s that are embedded from YouTube are affected. See http://maroelamedia.co.za/nuus/sa-nuus/video-meisie-helder-oordag-oorval-beroof/ for example.

I’m still awaiting feedback from most of our website visitors that reported the issue, but here are the models and versions I could determine so far:
– Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with Android 6.0.1
– Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with Android 6.0.1

sorry about the delay on this bugfix.
Please upgrade to FV Player VAST 0.6.27. For now we just had to disable VAST ads on your video type. It looks it’s not possible to make it work reliably on a mobile device without requiring secondary user click to get the video started after the video ads has finished.

The changelog reads:
“Mobile – stopping VAST ads before YouTube videos on Android – at least for now as it doesn’t work reliably”By “stopping”, do you mean that no ads will be served on embedded YouTube videos anymore?
Do you maybe have an ETA for a permanent solution?

as I said doing this would require two user clicks/taps to play the video and the problem is what happens if there is no ad – it would mean the user clicks the video and then has to click it again to get it to play. If there would be ad, he would click, see the ad and then be prompted to click again to see the actual video.
We could preload the ad to see if there is any, but the danger of that is that it would trigger all the tracking, that the ad is getting to play even if the user wouldn’t mean to play any video.
So this is really tricky.
YouTube is able to put in video ads for mobile a lot more easily, as they are in control of their own iframe obviously.
